Artist at The Mogg. Thursday, 31 July 2014. Train Journey to Venice. Glass figurines designed by Picasso with Grand Canal behind. I travelled to Venice by train. A wonderful experience. First to Paris staying over night and time to visit The Natural History Museum, a delightful small exhibition space full of seeds and information about the beginnings of botanical research linking well into my present work about wild flowers. Later I caught the evening train to Zurich. A fascinating and extensive exhibiti...

Artist at The Mogg: Finding Basuto

http://www.sheilaghjevons.blogspot.com/2014/01/finding-basuto.html

Artist at The Mogg. Monday, 27 January 2014. Basuto' a Clyde Puffer - National Waterways Museum. I was thrilled to come across this great, little boat called Basuto at the National Waterways Museum at Ellesmere Port, Cheshire which I visited a few weeks ago. A Clyde Puffer is a small steam ship and Basuto was built in 1902 at Port Dundas, Glasgow's canal port, by William Jacks and Co - Iron Merchants. There was a fleet of 6 built all having African place names. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Artist at The Mogg. Tuesday, 5 February 2013. Covenanters iii Oil on canvas. Preoccupied with snow and festivities! But back to work now. The blue empty chairs represent the Covenanters who were imprisoned in Dunnotar Castle, Kincardineshire, Scotland in the 17th century. This work explores the notion of Scottish identity. It wishes to honour those ordinary Scottish people who stood up for their religious freedom by not signing 'The Test' and were subsequently imprisoned by a tyrannical monarchy.

Artist at The Mogg. Wednesday, 9 April 2014. Waves and birds photo and paint. Waves and Birds' is an image of some of the St Kilda stacs. This experimental image has been developed out of a much larger painting. Photographing details in the big paintings and printing them and then working into the image with more paint has allowed lots more smaller images to emerge. These small scale paintings, 8"x8",have a vibrancy that might not have been possible if begun on a small canvas. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Artist at The Mogg. Monday, 3 June 2013. Sea Voyage to St Kilda. Approaching St Kilda 20 May 2013. St Kilda emerged out of the cloud and misty horizon at about 6 am. I was on the bridge of the Quest for Adventure and the tears streamed down my cheeks. To experience these islands appearing from such a huge seascape was utterly extraordinary and unforgettable. The community that inhabited these islands until the 1930's were truly remarkable and having visited this place my admiration for them has multiplied.

Making waves.from Sea Voyage Series. At times I feel as if I am spread out over the landscape and inside things, and am myself living in every tree, in the splashing of the waves, in the clouds and the animals that come and go, in the procession of the seasons. There is nothing.with which I am not linked" Carl Jung. Web Design by www.virtual-shropshire.co.uk.

FEAR NOT THE DARKNESS

FEAR NOT THE DARKNESS. But what lies within. Fear not the Darkness,. But What Lies Within,. The recesses of our mind,. The creepy cobwebbed corners,. That lingers on and tickles us,. With tingle feelings of alarm,. The deep in the stomach,. Pain we feel when we do warn,. The fear is deadly it seeks,. The deepest corner of our mind, It's just a story to alarm,. Educate and provide entertainment for our minds. So read on dear reader, I hope you find the stories amusing and full of charm. Nightmares - Part 7.
