Friday, 6 January 2017. With the promise of a sunny and wind free day, i took a chance of a trip to Cullercoats to glimpse the Black Redstart. Could not get close as i cant handle steps, so had to settle for a perch above the bird. It favoured a small cliff area above the beach, and already had a few admirers when i arrived flicking away on boulders and beach, before a trip to an adjacent garden. Tuesday, 3 January 2017. Sunday, 21 June 2015. Have not posted anything for a while, sadly after taking ill, i spent several weeks in hospital due to an infection and gangrene setting in to my big toe. Result was amputation of said digit and part of my foot, bit sad really, with Michael Flatley retiring my chance of taking over Riverdance has been nipped in the bud. Presently in waddle mode, doubt i will be getting out much for a while. Mind with the current weather im not missing much, but the Pratincole has hurt a bit.

Saturday, 25 July 2015. Had a visit to the Laing Art gallery. Last week. As ever first port of call is The Northern Spirit. Exhibition featuring works of local artists and scenes especially the work of Ralph Hedly. Who captured the ordinary working folk of the North East so well. Upstairs to the main gallery and just standing and drinking in these wonderful works is a pleasure. Thursday, 26 January 2017. My mate became a Good Samaritan and offerd me a lift to see the Pacific Diver at DB country park. I gratefully accepted as ive not seen a new species for a few years. Its a while since ive ventured the coast, so it came as a surprise at the development of the wind turbines and other works that are swallowing our green spaces. Sunday, 15 January 2017. A siuny Saturday persuaded me to travel to the Fish Quay for a better look at the Iceland gull i saw briefly on my last trip.
