Friday, March 22, 2013. Studio Shots by Anne Buchal. They say “variety is the spice of life”, but sometimes, in practical terms, it gets in the way of being a good thing. A friend gifted me with a large, L shaped table top when she moved out of her studio. What luxury! Of all of the aforementioned, maybe it should be the plate that should have a final printing. I will probably give up on the painting and I need more fabric to finish the figures. It’s a mess, but it does keep me occupied. Student work fro...

Saturday, September 29, 2012. Working with Weeds- Julie B Booth. Detail of Dandelion fabric. This summer I spent a lot of time working with weeds. I used the weeds I found in my garden to create a series of hand painted and printed fabrics. My plan is to design a series of pieces called Weed Maps. For FI.N.E.'s upcoming show All Over the Map. Once I have all the fabrics printed, I plan to sit with them and let them speak. To me to see what my next move will be. Labels: All Over the Map. The challenges ar...

Friday, July 19, 2013. More Stripes - Ann Liddle. The clothing is all my original designs. I made them in black silk noil with natural silk noil stripes. They are loose fitting. Pattern 91, Top. Pattern 92, Tunic. I think they look better in person and on the body than in these photos! July 20, 2013 at 2:45 PM. I particularly like your pattern tunics. They are lovely (very much my style! And certainly not something Ive tried. Good luck with them and with your exhibition. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Tuesday, July 24, 2012. Back on the blog. Back on the blog - Maria Simonsson. I have a renewed interest in the blog since receiving an e-mail from an organization asking to feature me on their website. They had found me through this blog! That proves to me that there are actually some people out there who have found us! So, let's keep updating with what we are doing on our map quest and other things. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Saturday, June 15, 2013. Dilemma/Decisions by Anne Buchal. Although I kept a sewing machine and a cabinet of threads, cloth and notions in the studio, I also made space for paint, paper, metal etc. I took classes held in the building that provided the inspiration to experiment and broadened my appreciation of other visual arts. Proof of this is the fact that this piece must be posted by a friend. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Julie B Booth: 60th Anniversary Project. Dilemma/Decisions by Anne Buchal.

http://fiberinnearlyeverything.blogspot.com/2013/06/stripes-revisited-by-ann-liddle.html
Saturday, June 15, 2013. Stripes revisited by Ann Liddle. Here is the first reassembled piece. It now measures about 30" x 12" so it's kind of amazing that is came from only a 12" x 12" square. These are much smaller than last year's strips so I may make more of them. I also plan to make some clothing that relates to the pieces for the same exhibit. Maybe some interesting angles and some stripes. No photos of those yet because they are still in my head. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Thursday, December 13, 2012. Maria Simonsson - Rusting. I am working on a project about and with iron. It has been developing in my mind for quite some time. I come from a region of Sweden where there has been iron industry, or at least iron production for over a thousand years. You can say iron is in my blood. I will show you some of the fabrics for now. Here is a piece of cotton fabric that was previously rusted with reebar in a grid pattern. Now I have added washers and some nuts. Here is a close up.

Thursday, July 11, 2013. Jessica Beels: Beaded Circles. Varying the rate of decrease of the number of beads within each round can create a flat or a domed element. By playing with the bead colors, you can subdivide circles into sections to emphasize their own form and/or draw attention to elements of the overall form. Also, depending on how many points of contact you make between elements, the final shape can be flat, cupped, or encompass a full sphere or other enclosed form. Here are some examples:.
