The Indonesian media reported yesterday that he had fallen out with the Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI). Singapore Circle: China to consider hosting 2018 Finals
http://singaporecircle.blogspot.com/2007/03/china-to-consider-hosting-2018-finals.html
Thursday, March 1, 2007. China to consider hosting 2018 Finals. LONDON - CHINA is considering a bid to stage the 2018 World Cup Finals, said Fifa president Sepp Blatter. It had hosted the inaugural women's World Cup in 1991, and will also host this year's tournament from Sept 10-30. As for its men's national team, they made only one appearance in the World Cup Finals - in 2002, when Japan and South Korea co-staged the event. But I'm not a prophet. I can't see where the World Cup is going.'. It may also b...

Singapore Straits: Car hit by golf ball that flew through safety net
http://singaporestraits.blogspot.com/2007/03/car-hit-by-golf-ball-that-flew-through.html
Saturday, March 10, 2007. Car hit by golf ball that flew through safety net. My car was hit by a golf ball that flew through the safety net and went out of bounds at Jurong Country Club while I was driving on the AYE between 6.30pm and 7pm on March 2. I went to the club the next day to launch a complaint and claim. While the club was professional in handling the matter, it has been a chore since. Did the club do anything about it after the first incident? Chew Wee Bing (Ms). Jardine C&C profit declines f...

Singapore Straits: All Singaporeans out of All-England in first round
http://singaporestraits.blogspot.com/2007/03/all-singaporeans-out-of-all-england-in.html
Friday, March 9, 2007. All Singaporeans out of All-England in first round. SINGAPORE'S campaign at the Yonex All-England badminton championships ended after Ronald Susilo was shown the door in the first round by China's Bao Chunlai. The world No 5 defeated Susilo 18-21, 21-15, 23-21 on Wednesday evening. Singapore's top player felt the match had been close but he had been the victim of bad luck. Bao then scored the next point and, even though I managed to level at 21-21, he pulled away to win. The fourth...

Singapore Singapore: Look to productivity, not immigration, to boost growth
http://singapore-n-singapore.blogspot.com/2007/03/look-to-productivity-not-immigration-to.html
Saturday, March 10, 2007. Look to productivity, not immigration, to boost growth. ACCORDING to Mr Ng Ya Ken ('6.5-million population - not if but when'; ST, March 7), Singapore's population would have to keep growing to maintain our economic growth. Stretching his logic further, countries in South and South-east Asia with big populations and large overcrowded cities would have become much richer than tiny Switzerland, with an area of 41,285 sq km and a population of 7.4 million. Big cities like Tokyo, Ba...

Singapore Singapore: Why does it take so long to repair escalator and toilets at Tg Pagar MRT station?
http://singapore-n-singapore.blogspot.com/2007/03/why-does-it-take-so-long-to-repair.html
Saturday, March 3, 2007. Why does it take so long to repair escalator and toilets at Tg Pagar MRT station? I take the train at Tanjong Pagar station almost every day. As the station was doing some improvement work last year, I had presumed that all repair works would have been completed after Chinese New Year. It surprised me that the escalator facing Tanjong Pagar side is closed since last week and is still under servicing. No completion date was given. David Kwok Ng Kan.

Singapore Circle: England feel 'full weight of the law' in Leverock
http://singaporecircle.blogspot.com/2007/03/england-feel-full-weight-of-law-in.html
Wednesday, March 7, 2007. England feel 'full weight of the law' in Leverock. ARNOS VALE (ST VINCENT) - THE British press have a new pin-up: Bermuda's Dwayne 'Sluggo' Leverock. The roly-poly left-arm spinner dismissed two of England's best one-day batsmen in their World Cup warm-up match on Monday. The 35-year-old Leverock's 120kg frame was an excuse for sports editors to trot out a few weight-related jibes yesterday. 19st part-time bowler flattens England stars' was The Sun's headline. Singapore Singapore: Wherever he goes, Park's inhaler follows
http://singapore-n-singapore.blogspot.com/2007/03/wherever-he-goes-parks-inhaler-follows.html
Tuesday, March 6, 2007. Wherever he goes, Park's inhaler follows. TUCKED among the clubs and balls in South Korean golfer Park Jun Won's bag is something that could prove to be a potential life-saver. No, it is not a gap, lob or sand wedge. Rather, the 20-year-old Seoul native carries around an inhaler - a palm-size device for administering asthma medication. Ironically, though, the potentially life-threatening condition turned out to be a life-changing one for him. In 17 events, he chalked up US$100,091...
