Letters from Lubbock - Tales of a Texas Missionary

Thursday, November 17, 2011. Keep Checking for an Update? This is Sister Rachel Orr's favorite sister, the Keeper of the Blog. I know a lot of you have decided I'm a failure as Keeper of the Blog, due to the fact that I haven't updated it for 3 months. The truth is the President of the mission has requested that all "missionary blogs" be discontinued, at least in this mission. I don't know the reasoning, but it makes sense. Rachel had no problem with the President's request, and wanted me to let you know.

Thursday, July 28, 2011. From the Great Brown South to the Great White North! Can't be nearly as fun as teaching people in 110 degrees here in beautiful dusty Texas, eh? Hahah Take pictures please :). Last week was the cleansing week all in preparation for this week. He needs to read it! Great ah-ha moment, we should tell him about it! Think he would read Jesus the Christ if we gave it to him? While knocking we met a devout catholic woman who majors in history. As we spoke with her about her beliefs,...

Letters from Lubbock - Tales of a Texas Missionary: Lord Love Texas!

http://www.sisterrachelorr.blogspot.com/2011/08/lord-love-texas.html

Friday, August 12, 2011. I love serving in texas because religion is real. Its not just, "Hey sweet! Its a relationship with our Creator. Everything we teach revolves around Christ and adds to their foundation in Him they've already started to form. Love love love it. So, I went over to Harbor Freight last week and bought dental tools for $5 and some latex gloves. It's a nerdy dream come true. I miss dental work! Peace like a river *ppssssssst*. Letters from Lubbock - Tales of a Texas Missionary: 06/09/11

http://www.sisterrachelorr.blogspot.com/2011_06_09_archive.html

Thursday, June 9, 2011. I want to be a mercenary now. This is my one week mark for being here in San Ang. It's been eventful. Throughout the week i have been writing little notes on post-its so i could remember the things i wanted to write home about. Forgive me if it seems fragmented. The animals here are different. I saw my first armadillo, but it was dead. I wonder if they are fast critters? Reminds me of an over sized potato bug. This one was bigger than Jill's armadillo mandolin! We have been assign...

My last full week as a full-time missionary. Oh was it great! This week was one of those weeks where nothing turns out the way you expect it to! But it always is for the good! sisterradvansky | My Mission Adventures

Resumindo e concluindo (Bottom line). September 24, 2014. It’s been kind of a rough week for me. I think most of this transfer I’ve spent focused on my weaknesses and everything I lack and it’s really been getting me down. Down to the point of feeling like I was merely enduring the days instead of enjoying the work and and loving with all my heart. Satan likes to drag us down and tell us we’re worthless and that we can’t do it. I got a blessing to help me finish out really strong. My whole mood and attit...

This week we're teaching two new investigators (both our teachers) and it's going pretty well. My kasama and I have a goal to ditch our written script for lessons next week and just teach with whatever Tagalog we know. The training wheels are coming off! And we said "sure! I'm excited, but I'm really sobra nervous because of the language. Most missionaries will just make you...
