Thursday, September 25, 2014. We finally spotted the sign hanging on a chainlink fence covered with fake green grass. Someone had hung up random-shaped paper cutouts around the sign on the fence. That didn't inspire confidence as to the quality of the fair inside. There was also music blaring loudly from within the fence, and shiny silver and gold balloons anchored at the fence's entrance. Wednesday, January 28, 2015. This last weekend we started hearing about a giant blizzard that was supposed to hit us Monday and Tuesday. Dubbed Blizzard Juno, it was supposed to be a historic storm and drop an estimated 4 inches of snow per hour. Brian just kept saying that he wanted a nice "gentle blizzard" - enough snow to justify some time off, but not so bad that it actually caused damage or emergencies. He ended up getting his wish. Tuesday, April 29, 2014. After visiting the FDR Memorial, we continued our walk around the basin towards the Thomas Jefferson Memorial. Monday, February 16, 2015. This last Christmas, I tried my hand at amigurumi. It actually was a lot easier than I thought it would be, and I had fun making these little owls for my nieces. Wednesday, July 9, 2014. Origami Show at Cooper Union. Brian had Thursday and Friday off for the 4th of July, and Thursday just happened to be the last day of the show, so we headed down to the Cooper Union Building, just east of NYU, in lower Manhattan. Sunday, April 12, 2015. I took my time walking back to Brian. I love the rows of maple trees that run around the park. Their bark is so beautiful, and they provide such a soft contrast against the steel and glass of the buildings just across the street. Wednesday, October 29, 2014. A Day in the Life: Grocery Shopping. I have to cross Queens Boulevard, the main thoroughfare that runs east and west through Queens. Its a busy street divided by the subway tracks and has four lanes on either side. A portion of the tracks consist of a stone overpass like structure.
