Slapdash Diaries..

Saturday, August 15, 2015. Hobble Creek Half Marathon. While I love running, I don't actually race that often. Utah is a fantastic place to live if you like to run, since there are oodles of outdoors enthusiasts here and plenty of races to choose from during good weather months, but races are expensive! Welllll as these best of intentions usually transpire, I did not. The night before the race I did the whole lay out my gear and get everything ready to go thing. I learned my lesson last summer. I figure ...

Slapdash

Just some slapdash thoughts that have very little to do with anything and a lot to do with everything. Wednesday, August 12, 2015. Remember how much Sam hated swimming lessons when he was almost three? Remember how we had to hold his hand and walk around the pool watching. The other kids in his class play games and sing songs and swim in the pool? Well, that happened, and we had to take some time away from swimming to get over the trauma. Tuesday, August 11, 2015. Monday, August 10, 2015. Somehow our 3-h...

Slapdasher – Words. Some pictures.

February 16, 2016. Over the past couple of years I’m discovering that lots of things I used to dislike (spinach, snow shoveling, small towns… to name but a few) have somehow grown on me, and now I find myself quite enjoying them. Some of these things have simply become acquired tastes (wine) but others I think have to do with changing tolerances as I grow older. Yay Good for me. Theme by Anders Noren. Mdash; Up ↑.

A cape for a little girl. May 20, 2011. What an ugly mess. I took a length of the ribbon, and hand stitched it over the ruffle seam. My plan was to stitch the ribbon down on the top and bottom, but it was so hard to push the needle through, and my time was running very short, so I just sewed the top of the ribbon. At some point, I realized I needed to see how this was going to look on my daughter, but really hated to spring it on her before it was finished. I looked around, and found a willing model.

The Slapdash Godliness of a Good Girl

Wednesday, February 12, 2014. My husband and I have been trying to give our son a sibling for nine months. So far, no luck. So we did what many others in our predicament do: seek help from infertility experts. It looks like we are going to be embarking on an IVF journey soon, something I'd never pondered doing before. Which in turn means I've never given much thought to the sticky ethical issues that can crop up in the course of building a family via medical science. More fertilized eggs = higher chance ...

Slapdash Garage | The workshop of life.

The workshop of life. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. The Great Toast Dilemma. January 24, 2014. Let’s talk toast. I love toast. Toast and butter though, I’m not a jelly guy. But I’ve stumbled on a disturbing trend in toast and it has me a little peeved. Yeah, I said peeved. Here’s the skinny: You’ve got bread and a toaster. In goes the bread, out comes the toast. Right? It’s been like that since toasters were invented back in the Dark Ages. Not anymore. I open the bag. So far, so...
