NEWS FROM THE NETHERLANDS: Croatia Part 3: Vis Paradise, Sibenik and Krka

NEWS FROM THE NETHERLANDS. Thursday, January 1. Croatia Part 3: Vis Paradise, Sibenik and Krka. One of our days on Vis Island was spent driving the narrow, winding roads of the island. First, we drove over to a monastery built on the edge of the town of Vis. The views from the monastary looking back on Vis were postcard perfect. I felt like I had found something out of a James Bond movie when I first saw the submarine pin. It was built to dock and hide submarines during World War II. After the hot and sw...

NEWS FROM THE NETHERLANDS: November 2012

NEWS FROM THE NETHERLANDS. Monday, November 19. Veterans Day in Belgium. In celebration of Veterans Day this year, Chad and I visited one of the World War II American cemeteries we hadn't seen before, the Henri Chapelle American Cemetery and Memorial. The short drive though the rolling hills in the southernmost part of The Netherlands and across the border into Belgium was really nice. I forget how much I miss a little variation in terrain, it's flat, flat, flat here. Monday, November 12. Our group was t...

NEWS FROM THE NETHERLANDS: April 2014
http://thezinneckers.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
NEWS FROM THE NETHERLANDS. Saturday, April 26. Ireland: All things Dublin. At the end of March, Chad's busy work schedule opened up a bit so we flew to the Emerald Isle for five days of Irish culture. Ireland is somewhere I wanted to visit, considering my mom's family is Irish, but it was never at the tip top of my travel priorities. We decided to go because of prices and the time of the year not being the best to go to coastal destinations and I'm so so glad we did! The library was stunning! We left the...

NEWS FROM THE NETHERLANDS: December 2014

NEWS FROM THE NETHERLANDS. Monday, December 29. Croatia Part 2: Fine dining, Split and Vis Island. While Zadar isn't much talked about as far as Croatian travel goes, I ended up really liking our time there. I liked walking along the sea wall and taking in the laid back lifestyle. We ate some great food as well! Since Croatia is so close to Italy, authentic Italian food and drink is abundant. Afterward, we visited the wine cellar below the restaurant and bought a bottle to enjoy later on that week. We fo...

A Brinker Life: If I Can Just Get Through This Week...

Thursday, February 7, 2013. If I Can Just Get Through This Week. I feel like my life is in a vicious cycle of "If I can just get through this week, life will slow down a bit! After being absent from the blogging scene for almost 2 years, I think it is safe to say that life will never slow down and I will forever live in a dream world where I imagine a full day of doing nothing but sitting on the couch eating Reece's Peanut Butter Eggs. Surprisingly I'm okay with this! Apex Martial Arts Academy. We are le...

A Brinker Life: October 2010

Monday, October 11, 2010. Budgeting is Fun for Everyone! Budgeting is such an important part of our livelihood. There are so many great methods for budgeting and it takes time to find one that fits you. As I mentioned in my 2nd post, I grew up with a mom who worked for many years as a credit card counselor and is now a certified financial planner. I have had most of my life to perfect a method that works for me. Saving is also a very important habit for children to learn at an early age. I would pick...

Here's the Scoop: June 2015
http://daveandnatasha.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 26, 2015. It's the first day of summer vacation. We have no big plans for today except for taking it easy. And I'm going to start tackling the basement. Right now it's a bit of a disaster and I know the kids will want to play down there a lot over the next few months so it's time to organize. Maybe I'll even do some weeding. I have no idea what was going on here but the dinosaurs obviously had places to go! I can't decide if I'm intrigued or grossed out by this cake. Or hamburger. Or...The s...

Here's to hoping post-marriage brings more blog posts! It's our WEDDING WEEK! It is easy to get bogged down by the details and to do lists but we do want to enjoy and remember this time. Family starts arriving today and the next few days will be filled with wedding-related events until we leave for BELIZE on Sunday! We have 2 and one honorary:.

Sleepless Mornings: Schooling at Home

Monday, May 12, 2014. That's right, it's been THAT long. It's gotten to the point that my dad is asking if I'm ever going to blog again. Personally, I blame the company I work for. Shortly after I started they put a block up on blogger, making it impossible for me to write at lunchtime. Because I swear, that was the only time of day I would ever post during the workday. I swear. Please disregard the tic in my right eye. To blog or not to blog? So how am I finding the time now? How about an update? Only b...
