Ramblings of a Brummie living in Manchester that spends so long reading other blogs that he figured he may as well start his own. Friday, May 25, 2007. I've been tagged by Badger. Brum needs to make sure that experience is safe. Brum needs to work a little magic to put them both safely out of action. BRUM NEEDS A MAYOR. Brum needs an Eerie Pub. Brum needs something new. Brum needs a new breakfast show. Monday, May 21, 2007. Mtv not the music channel. I am a mtv. That's male transvestite to you and me.

The trouser Press: May 2012

View my complete profile. Thursday, 3 May 2012. Today is one of those rare days in which I do something which makes me feel like a proper grown-up. I went to the local polling booth and voted in the local elections. I'm well aware of the difference between local elections and the general election, yet it's hard not to want to vote according to my view of the political situation nationally. So I looked at the ballot paper. Don't make me laugh. So, for the first time in my life, I spoiled the ballot paper&...

Random Kahless: Hong Kong

Note to Spammers - Piss off. Sunday, 23 March 2014. I was in HK last week on business. I was humbled by how hospitital my colleagues from HK are. I was taken out to lunch every day (Dim Sum) and I have come home somewhat heavier, though I daren't get on the scales. Three things I learn't last week:. 1 Chinese do actually make very good desserts - especially sponges. 2 You don't see the number 4 (e.g. hotels don't have a fourth, fourteen etc floor). 15 April 2014 at 02:38. Thursday, 16 October 2008. The climate change book is ticking along nicely. Badger has done some amazing illustrations, including these lovely frogs. She enjoyed drawing the frogs so much that she hardly ticked at all while she was working away at them. Today we are mostly drawing brains. And I had one of those 'aha! Moments where a bunch of seemingly unconnected things suddenly came together. Red hair she had and golden skin,. Her sulky lips were shaped for sin,. Her sturdy legs were flannel-slack'd,.

Sunday, 17 May 2009. The revelations over MP's expenses claims have been a source of alternating hope and anger in our home this week. Anger that so many of our politicians are so out-of-touch, disrespectful and downright dishonest with tax payers' money. Hope that this crisis for our political parties may be the nail in the coffin for personality-politics. In a small community we can select our alphas based on personality. We need to turn instead to 'What? What kind of policies. Sell me your ideology.

View my complete profile. Saturday, 8 October 2011. I've been a busy bee today, but here was a strange interlude a little earlier on. I was out on the high street, drawing my life savings out of the nearest ATM so that I could afford a coffee before hyperinflation really kicks in (including emergency savings so that I could afford a shot of vanilla with it), when suddenly I heard what sounded like an expression of absolute glee. Hang on, I thought? Why would an old lady be whooping for joy like that?

Today I want to hold a black cat. View my complete profile. Thursday, 10 November 2011. Today I want to hold a black cat. Anyway, all day i've had this feeling that i want to hold a black cat. i had a dream last night. nothing different to any given night over the last few weeks, in that respect - most nights have been punctuated by extremely vivid dreams - sometimes genuinely entertaining/intriguing, other times unsettling/disquieting, often a mixture of all three. or four. The day I went to the death camps. Another perfect pop song. View my complete profile. Saturday, 13 August 2011. The day I went to the death camps. On the other hand there has been, in my mind, a need to find some kind of insight, or attempt to come to terms with on some level, the sheer impact on human lives at an individual and collective level that those wars brought. It's too neat to suggest that this inward flow of words and images served as preparation for my visit earlier this week to Auschwitz: t...

View my complete profile. Sunday, 19 February 2012. I was in very pleasant company today, and circumstances were solicitous to me telling this story. I'm glad to have revisited it actually: I love the expression on people's faces when I tell them about someone asking me "what's your favourite piss? Saturday, 18 February 2012. I cannot believe what the government of this country are doing, and for which they have no mandate. If, as is often said, you can judge a society on how they treat the most vuln...
