Snippets of a Quilter

Wednesday, January 28, 2015. This is my second little quilt finish of the Simple Whatnots Club 1. Didn't sign up for Club 2 because I still have four little quilt patterns to do from the first club. I've got one started and hope to have it finished next month. The Candy Hearts quilt was quick and I'm thrilled to have a heart quilt ready for Feb. I'm also happy to say at least 98% of this fabric came from my stash. #sewmystash2015challenge1. The pattern is from Emily Anns Kloset on Etsy. Time to catch up ...

Snippets of a Quilter: August 2014

http://snippetsofaquilter.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

Tuesday, August 19, 2014. I've finished a couple quilts which I forgot to post here, too busy posting on Instagram and neglecting my poor blog. This quilt is called Ruby from a BOM a couple years ago, all finished and washed, I think it looks fresh and pretty. This is a gift for a birthday coming up soon. My vision was for it to give a beach or ocean feel, I love the soft blue tones in this quilt. Wednesday, August 6, 2014. This little quilt was a gift from Mary at Quilt Hollow. Snippets of a Quilter: Moda Love Finished Quilt

http://snippetsofaquilter.blogspot.com/2014/10/moda-love-finished-quilt.html

Sunday, October 19, 2014. Moda Love Finished Quilt. The borders are added, quilted and ready for gift giving. It's a queen size quilt and will be a gift for my daughter, haven't decided if it will be Christmas gift or birthday. The free pattern. Is from Moda and they've included 3 sizes using pre-cuts. This was a very quick quilt to make and I'm happy with how it turned out. The second little quilt in the Simple Whatnots club. I've sewed the flying geese on the sides, just not in this picture. The Hallow...

Snippets of a Quilter: Applique Method

http://snippetsofaquilter.blogspot.com/2007/08/applique-method.html

Tuesday, August 7, 2007. This is my absolute favourite and the only method I like to use for appliqué "freezer paper and liquid starch". I promised in a previous post that I would show how I do my appliqué. 1 Trace all appliqué shapes onto dull side of freezer paper (reverse shapes as needed). 2 Cut out each shape on traced line. 3 Iron on "wrong" side of fabric (pictured above). 4 Ruff cut a generous 1/4" around each shape. You're not looking for that prefect 1/4" here. B Clover Mini Iron. Here is what ...

Snippets of a Quilter: Charm Square Quilt

http://snippetsofaquilter.blogspot.com/2007/10/charm-square-quilt.html

Monday, October 8, 2007. Here's a little trick using charm squares. Some of you might have seen this before. We all need a refresher now and again.right.LOL. Take 9 charms squares (5") and layout same way you would for a 9-patch. Did you see that designer rotary cutter? When I saw this on Nicole's. Blog I was just so taken by what a neat idea Olfa has finally come out with something pretty.I just had to have one. Darlene. Thanks Darlene you are a wonderful friend. Is to place your blocks on point. Wi...

As the Spool Turns: April 2011

http://asthespoolturns.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

As the Spool Turns. A Spin-Off of Little Oak Pattern Company. Monday, April 18, 2011. How wonderful it is to be able to work from home. I've been busy designing a project for our TopStitchers Club. It's a pin cushion and thread catcher all in one. The project features delicate machine appliqued spring flowers on a classic, machine quilted, hanging diamond background. The thread catcher is large enough to hold clippings from an entire quilt top. How do I know this? Here's a picture of a portion of the top.

As the Spool Turns. A Spin-Off of Little Oak Pattern Company. Monday, December 12, 2011. Food, Fun and Stitching. We enjoyed another fun retreat here at The Cabin. This time I remembered to take pictures of the meals prepared by Bernie. There's a little hole in the front of the foot that the cord is threaded through. Here's Barbara quilting her fabulous fish wall hanging. This is Sky working on an adorable penguin wall hanging for a special person on her Christmas list. Here I am working on the quilt tha...

http://scraphappyquilts.blogspot.com/2011/02/no-end-in-sight.html

Scrappy quilts wee and wide. Sunday, February 20, 2011. No end in sight. I spent the day today assembling 150 of these little boogers.apparently a woman my age shouldn't spend that many hours behind the wheel of a sewing machine.I am now crippled. AND after the wrastling and cursing that goes along with trying to make em all line up,I discovered I need at least 3 to 5 more rows to make this the size I want it to be. Ugh. SoI haven't heard anyone saying they still want to do a quilt along.anyone?

Heritage Quilts: June 2010

http://heritagequilts.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

The meanderings of a wife, mom and quilter. Thursday, June 3, 2010. I am a child of God. I have many brothers and sisters in Christ. One of those brothers and his family are in need of prayers. A blog has been set up to keep all informed and comments support the family. Lucas' dad is posting on his daily, sometimes hourly progress. They all need our prayers. He has given permission to share and since I believe in the power of prayer, I have to share. Meanderings by Heritage Quilter. A Passion for Applique.

Heritage Quilts: Saturday Morning

http://heritagequilts.blogspot.com/2009/05/saturday-morning.html

The meanderings of a wife, mom and quilter. Saturday, May 16, 2009. The husband has gone fishing, the kids are still in the bed. I have a hot cup of coffee.  There is nothing so peaceful as a quiet house in the early morning.  The only sound I hear are the clocks ticking in the family room and the keys on the keyboard clicking as I type this post.  As. Would say, “Life is Good”. Why am I up so early? 160; Well, I placed a bid on. 160; I am now the owner of a 1938 Singer Featherweight 221. . I'm a wife an...

Snippets of a Life - Blog

Snippets of a Life. Home (otherwise known as Holiday Three). Holiday Three is proving to be quite jolly so far. We're treating our local area a little like we would treat a new holiday place - pottering around the charity shops, having tea and toast in a cafe (what do you mean that's what we'd normally be doing at the weekend anyway? This morning we went to the local Country Market. Of course, as soon as we got home the sun came out again, so I gathered tea, books and blankets (not trusting those clouds ...

Snapshots and Snippets

Moments of Our Messy Life. Friday, April 24, 2015. These days I have approximately 1 hour and 42 minutes 4 days per week when both children are in school, barring Spring Breaks, volunteering in the classroom, and illness. But who’s counting? At first I was a bit paralyzed by my unrealistic expectations of these few hours. I would make lists like:. Read book club book. Prep tomorrow’s class. And I would spend 15 minutes doing 6 things and not get anything done satisfactorily and feel like I wasted the time.
