Home From Hungary: Winter Fun!!
http://laurnia.blogspot.com/2008/01/winter-fun.html
After spending 2 years molding the minds of young Hungarian children, I have come home to attempt to mold American minds. Starting with my nephews, my summer school, and hopefully in a school in the fall. Sunday, January 06, 2008. Snowflakes fall and cover the ground in a thick cold blanket of white. Adults shutter and think of the shoveling that lays ahead. Children rejoice, pull on their warmest winter gear, grab their plastic sleds and head for the nearest hill. They jump in for the thrill of the ride.

Hungarian Lessons: February 2007
http://hungarianlessons.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 27, 2007. I've just polished off a nice rectangle slice of chocolate Hungarian cake and I still can't get over how marvelous cake is here. Whenever I walk to my grocery store to get food, I pass by this "cukraszda" or cake shop. It's tiny, with two tables inside. I never fail to look over my shoulder as I pass the frosted window, to get a glance at the shelves of cakes on show underneath the glass. Thursday, February 22, 2007. The Father is dead set on bringing the Baptist way to these ...

Hungarian Lessons: Survivor Notes from the CELTA
http://hungarianlessons.blogspot.com/2007/06/survivor-notes-from-celta.html
Friday, June 01, 2007. Survivor Notes from the CELTA. My whole experience abroad started when I started to feel restless in my first year teaching job in the US. I wanted to travel and be around people different from myself. I wasn't exactly getting any satisfaction from teaching high schoolers in southern Illinois. It wasn't for me at the time. I applied for a CELTA course in Budapest. At the International House. Why Budapest? I scanned over the faces of the people I'd be working closely with and tried ...

Hungarian Lessons: Viszlát!
http://hungarianlessons.blogspot.com/2007/07/viszlt.html
Thursday, July 12, 2007. I leave Hungary tomorrow morning at 8:25 am, Friday the 13th, for Chicago where I'll get to see my brother whom I haven't seen for two years and my parents. I'm excited to go home. For other reasons, I'm sad. But overall, I'm prepared to go back. I never thought I'd be happy about that). And I'll be far enough away from Hungary to start processing a vast reflection of my time here. Not, of course, ready to miss Kat on this end. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Home, yet lost.
