Sojourning Thoughts: The Rabbi’s Last Passover

http://www.sojourningthoughts.blogspot.com/2012/08/the-rabbis-last-passover.html

Poetry inspired by my temporary stay. Visit My Other Blog. Tuesday, August 28, 2012. The Rabbi’s Last Passover. I have spent myself day and night. To open their eyes. Other Rabbis. Left them to serve the Romans. And the Sea. I called them out. Now, as we recline at this borrowed table,. I look around at their young joyful faces,. Sons of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,. They have become my friends,. My brothers. I know they will soon question. Everything. For a short time they will wonder,. By the rising Sun.

Poetry inspired by my temporary stay. Visit My Other Blog. Thursday, August 30, 2012. Three groggy kids tumble out of bed. She dresses her two sons in spiderman. Hand-me-downs and her daughter. In pink princess clothes from Goodwill. Huddled together on the corner, they wait. For the bus as she drives off to work. She knows her customers. By the brand of cigarettes they buy. 8220;Two packs of Marlboros in a box”. And a breakfast sandwich.”. 8220;A pack of Newports and a lottery ticket”. I love to travel&...

He’s been going by that name since the 60’s. Said he’s from Shreveport, Louisiana. I should have guessed by the song in his words. Said he has kids – 5 in Georgia, 5 in Texas, 1 in Florida. Thought about trying to get a church. To buy him a bus ticket to go see them. 16 grandkids, only met a quarter of them. In the grape fields.

Poetry inspired by my temporary stay. Visit My Other Blog. Tuesday, September 4, 2012. Her two petite units of five,. Like late fall leaves,. Move back and forth. In preparing the young minds. Sitting in the cluster of desks. Her index finger glides along the page. Like a model on a catwalk,. Moving gracefully down each line. As if practicing paleography,. She helps her students. Find meaning in the words. Her ring finger crowned. With a silver band, guarded. Safely between the middle and little finger.

A Multicultural Reality | Gabriel Forsyth

http://gabrielforsyth.com/a-multicultural-reality

I was reminded again last night of how multicultural our cities have become. My wife and I went to Ross and Old Navy. Many families were there buying back-to-school clothes for their kids. I couldn’t help but take notice of the melting pot of families in the stores. Families from various ethnic groups, all shopping for back-to-school clothes. Five years ago, when I first moved to the Orlando area, I read an article in National Geographic by T. D. Allman titled “Beyond Disney”. 3 ideas come to mind. There...

Imagine a movement of communities mobilized for mission. Imagine everyday Christ-followers equipped to serve their cities, love their neighbors, work for justice, care for the poor, rescue the oppressed, and father the fatherless. Imagine leaders empowered to lead their communities boldly and creatively on mission for Jesus. I believe we can see this kind of movement because…. Just your average third grade teacher doing some extrodinary things in her classroom. Come in and take a look. Sunday, September 16, 2012. Process vs. product.great reminder. Came acrossed this great article about process vs. product. So many times we forget which really helps our kids to think creatively and instead copy our model. How can I let go of what I think their projects should look like and let them experience the process? Really great read even if you just look at the pictures. Check it out.

Just your average third grade teacher doing some extrodinary things in her classroom. Come in and take a look. Monday, September 24, 2012. LIfe as I know it. SOJOURNING THROUGH - HOME

This world is not our home. Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. - 2 Timothy 2:10. But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God. - Acts 20:24. Ryan and Nicole Richie. What is the biblical gospel? Do you profess faith in Jesus Christ?

Friday, December 19, 2014. The cost of christmas. Christmas is one of my favorite holidays. Not just because of the variety of homemade goodies or family coming from different places, but one reason I love Christmas is because there are so many memories. Memories of time with family members who may not be with us this year or memories of getting “that one gift” I kept pestering my parents to get me. But one thing that has come to my mind this year, and really in the past few days, is the cost of Christmas.
