http://garden-variety-maritime-runner.blogspot.com/2012/09/2011-2012.html
Garden Variety Maritime Runner. Tuesday, September 11, 2012. How has my running progressed since my last blog entry? Last year was not great in my running world. I believe I had pertussis/whooping cough in the early autumn, interrupting my plans for a good marathon. Even prior to that, my running had really not improved over the summer, for some reason. In fact, I think it regressed. A quick photo recap of the last year follows. Carrying too much weight? The 20 miles I ran the day before? The Fall Classi...

JOURNEY TO A SUB 3HR MARATHON. Trials and tribulations of knocking almost another half an hour off my PB. Tuesday, 21 July 2015. Passed a couple of guys around here who were fading but there was till about 6 runners up ahead where the gap remained steady. Only problem though was that I was already in. Crossed the line in 1:10:45 by my watch but seven seconds slower by the race clock. 1:10:45 - New PB. VDot = 48.3, Marathon prediction = 3:17:29. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). October 2, 2013. More of the same! This was one of the those good training sessions. The plan was for a 8km (5m) tempo, I’m currently doing some fitness training with the Loughrea rugby team, so I decided id head down early taking a longer route down and then finishing out the run with laps of the pitch. It worked out very well and I nailed all of my target km paces. 1km – 4.22. 2km – 4.01. 3km – 4.00. 4km – 4.00. 5km – 4.09. 6km – 4.00. 7km – 3.50. 8km – 3.53. 9km – 3.49! 1km – 4.15. 2km – 4.02. From starting coach25k to running Connemara 100mile Ultra. Monday, August 3, 2015. Morris Oil Piltown 10K 2015 Race Report. This was a race starting at 7.30pm so I headed off for the start of the race and met up with the lads from town, between all of us we were aiming for times ranging between sub 40 - sub 45. The conditions were good and the course was advertised as fast so there was a lot of hope of reaching our goals. I finished 37th across the line ( out of 128 finishes. Its not really the sub 40 I ...

From starting coach25k to running Connemara 100mile Ultra. Monday, June 22, 2015. Still taking it easy. Only a few runs lately but they are starting to feel easier, so recovery is getting there bit by bit, I even. First time trying Montrail. Had a run this morning with some sub 6:50min miles. I received two new pairs of runners last week, one for trail (Montrail Rogue Racer) and another for road ( Saucony Phoenix 7). Why did I want non-gortex? Links to this post. Thursday, June 4, 2015. Yesterday I did my first run of the Keith Whyte Waterfront Ultra Marathon III in Co Cork, it was very much a last minute affair as I signed up during the week. One interesting thing about the Waterfront Marathon is as a guest it featured Team Hoyt. Who came all the way from the USA to take part in the event, inspiring stuff. The first loop went great and I fel...

http://runninginkilkenny.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
From starting coach25k to running Connemara 100mile Ultra. Thursday, May 28, 2015. Recovery, Recovery, Recovery. So that's all I've been doing the past few weeks, straight after the Thames Path 100 I was completely floored when I got sick and now thankfully I've recovered from being sick and energy levels etc are all starting to return to normal. So all in all pretty uneventful, on a side note I've taken the time to finally update my marathon and race stats to include races that I did back in 2014. As th...
