An Avoidant's Guide to Life, Love, and the Pursuit of Triathlon. Tuesday, May 24, 2011. A Big One is Coming. Yeah, I know - I've disappeared again. And with good reason. And this brief post probably won't even make up for it (especially to my brother who reads this blog during his morning crap), but trust me - I got one all typed up and ready to go that's going to make it real clear why I've been so silent. Yes, things they are a'brewin' over here in the Procrastination world. Links to this post. I'm a 3...

An Avoidant's Guide to Life, Love, and the Pursuit of Triathlon. Wednesday, May 9, 2012. Before we go back to our regularly scheduled blog programming (which for this blog would be a post in say, eh, two months from now? I wanted to say thanks for all the supportive words. But in the last few weeks, I've just put these thoughts aside and asked for help - I figure, if they can't help, they will just say no. But it can't hurt to ask. It's hard for me, but I've been trying to do it. Links to this post.

An Avoidant's Guide to Life, Love, and the Pursuit of Triathlon. Thursday, June 7, 2012. I Went To Kansas to Race, and Came Home with a House. Well, that's not exactly true. I actually went to Joplin, MO to race. But the house part is true. Let's start from the beginning. So we decided that we would move to Kansas. Yup, that's right. This lifelong Chicago gal -who literally. Has never lived anywhere else and whose entire life, job and family is here - is packing up and hitting the yellow brick road.

Former Ironman now in pursuit of the mountains. Sunday, December 05, 2010. A Thousand Gifts, pg 4. 151) Snowshoe-ing with the kids and having Bobby say no less than three times, "I love this! 153) Seeing an owl with a 6-foot wingspan flying through the trees (how can they DO that? After hearing him half an hour earlier, but now knowing where he was until he took off flying above us. 155) Coffee with Baileys in it. 156) Salted nut roll bars. 157) Pants that still fit during the holidays. 165) Thinking abo...

Former Ironman now in pursuit of the mountains. Friday, November 26, 2010. A Thousand Gifts, pg 3. 101) Getting up before everyone else, and listening to the silence. 102) And then listening harder and it sounds noisy! Like the furnace, the hum of a computer, the coffee maker. 104) Sipping it out of a shared mug with the one you love. 105) Being thankful for all these gifts. You can actually FEEL thankfulness in your heart if you're sensitive to it. She would respond with, "I love me, too! 119) When Guy ...

Former Ironman now in pursuit of the mountains. Wednesday, November 24, 2010. I just stumbled upon a blog from a fellow blogger's blogging buddy. It's called A Thousand Gifts. Basically you write down a thousand gifts. I think it's a beautiful idea! I am going to start right now. 1) The millions of snowflakes gently falling onto the deck furniture outside my kitchen window right now. 2) The sound of my kids' voices while they watch funny youtube videos in the next room. 13) That when I screw up, and I do...

Former Ironman now in pursuit of the mountains. Tuesday, February 08, 2011. Ok, what's my identity here? It started as an Ironman training blog, then an ultra running blog, then an I Love Jesus blog. now I think it's time to blend all these things that are or were important to me and start blogging again! A man who loves me so much more than I ever thought I could be loved. We are so blessed. Deep breath. Now that I have all those comforts, I can get back to training. So here is what is planned:. Former Ironman now in pursuit of the mountains. Saturday, February 12, 2011. Temperatures have soared into the 20's out here in sunny Minnesota! We love you so much! UPDATE 5:00 pm. Ally just swam the 100 yard breaststroke in a Championship Qualifying PR! So we hopped on and off the trail, running on the streets as well as on sidewalks in and around the old neighborhoods. It was SO nice outside that we ended up with 18 miles! Have fun and good luck! We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us!

Former Ironman now in pursuit of the mountains. Friday, October 15, 2010. FCA DAILY IMPACT PLAY 10-15, 2010. Each day I get an email from the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Today's was good enough to post on my blog, which I have been neglecting like a fading campfire, too. But the fire I like to keep stoking is the one within, which has grown warmer and more dynamic than ever. Without wood, fire goes out…”. Recently, this short, yet powerful, verse from Proverbs caught my attention. Proverbs 26:2...
