Nie został tu jednak długo, bo też miasto to przede wszystkim centrum przemysłowe. Choć Odense jest trzecim co do wielkości miastem w Danii, współczesny turysta nie znajdzie tu wielu atrakcji; wszystkie muzea można z powodzeniem zwiedzić w ciągu jednodniowej wizyty. Znaczna powierzchnia kraju jest pofałdowana (spadek po zlodowaceniach), porośnięta lasami iglastymi z domieszką brzóz, wśród których znaleźć można ciemne jeziora z granitowym podłożem.
