Penny Candy & Shady Characters: August 2011
http://redherringillustration.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 28, 2011. Recently, I did some interior art for a new release from Hex, "All Stars", A game of low-budget superheroics. Basically, it's a game about the other guys. The super heroes that just didn't quite make it. Think "The Tick" or "Mystery Men". At any rate, this project was a lot of fun. You can purchase your very own copy, written by Steve Johnson. With cover art by the talented Lindsay Hornsby. And interior art by Leighton Connor. Until next time, take care and be good! As promised, ...

Random Acts: Wild Seas: A Piratical Campaign Setting
http://mythadvocate.blogspot.com/2015/07/wild-seas-piratical-campaign-setting.html
Tuesday, July 14, 2015. Wild Seas: A Piratical Campaign Setting. System-wise I will be using the Dungeons and Dragons 3rd Edition rules (not 3.5 or Pathfinder). This is mostly because all of my players either have the books, or can easily get them via online sources. Of course it is child's-play to convert any of this to other systems, particularly d20 ones. Of course some basic setting details are needed. As follows:. Each Hex is five miles on the side. The major Sea Power is the nation of KANA (see map...

Handmade Family: August 2012
http://handmadefamily.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Tuesday, August 14, 2012. A quick post about my process. Each month, either Mrs. Handmade or I work four shifts at Fusion. I started out by doodling in my sketch book, looking for who I thought the character of little red is, and what I wanted her to look like. This includes her reacting to things and doing things. This is a pretty well refined sketch of what I decided I was looking for. Inking is probably my favorite part of the whole process. It's soothing, and probably the only part of the process...

Random Acts: Atomic Dawn: Aliens
http://mythadvocate.blogspot.com/2010/05/atomic-dawn-aliens.html
Wednesday, May 5, 2010. The Earth is a farm. We are someone else's property.". Aliens are very real in the Atomic Dawn, though the distinction should be made that these beings are dimensional travelers, using Plane Shift. Characters with the Plane Shift. An underground city buried under the sands of Mars. Though the surface of that planet is unlivable to Earth creatures, this city has a breathable (but dry) atmosphere, though outside is instant death. Home of the mysterious Pleiadeans (or Nordic) aliens,...

Slaves, food, lumber. Processed goods, technology. The people of the Empire consider themselves to be the successors of the American Empire, and have adopted a number of symbols and sayings from Americana culture. This does not indicate wild tribes, and outlaw bands in the wilderness, only official numbers.

See History) as the savior of humanity. They believe that justice must be meted out, even if it runs contrary to local morals and laws. Random Acts: Atomic Dawn: Mutant Future Skill System
http://mythadvocate.blogspot.com/2011/04/atomic-dawn-mutant-future-skill-system.html
Monday, April 4, 2011. Atomic Dawn: Mutant Future Skill System. My home campaign of Atomic Dawn for the Mutant Future game has a cultural and technological level more in-line with the 1800s than the Dark Ages, though there are many low tech zones. As-such skill-sets and technological knowledge is similar to that found during the American Old West. Skills represent a character’s “background knowledge,” as well as areas of expertise gained through practice and training. As characters ...Every character has...

Random Acts: February 2015
http://mythadvocate.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 26, 2015. The Polyester Road: Thinking about Murica! After talking with some local gaming buddies, it got me pondering the Mutant Truckers of The Polyester Road setting. Again Its a great setting concept, and absolutely screams for house rules and the details that only tabletop gamers can generate. So I will be posting some additional tidbits and thoughts on the setting. Tuesday, February 24, 2015. Mythos Space: Sawsnark Cruiser. As these creatures can be induced to reshape their inter...

Random Acts: Atomic Dawn: Religion
http://mythadvocate.blogspot.com/2010/05/atomic-dawn-religion.html
Wednesday, May 12, 2010. Religion (or at least Spirituality) is extremely important to civilization. Its holds peoples together despite pressures of war, disease, torment and death. And it is no different in the Mutant Future. Though Atom Bomb cults (ala Beneath The Planet of The Apes) and similar are amusing, they don't have the depth of more thought out religions. Religions of The Atomic Dawn. Saint Agatha and Saint Peregrine. Patron Saints of Cancer Victims). Patron Saint of Mutant Humans). A giant of...
