Wise Enough: December 2008
http://wiseinshanghai.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 29, 2008. The church went from 100 people at a regular service to standing room only on Christmas Eve. Communion still didn't have any organization to it - it was one huge free-for-all. . Charlotte on Christmas morning. We decorated our TV instead of a tree. Dinner out Christmas Eve after freezing through Mass. We were in Xintandi. Area It was totally decked out in Christmas dazzle. Sunday, December 28, 2008. Our second set of visitors are coming in three and a half hours! A Decade O...

Wise Enough: September 2008
http://wiseinshanghai.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 25, 2008. Over the Moon Festival weekend we took the train to Hangzhou, a smaller town of about 12 million people. Depending on which train speed/class you take the trip is between an hour and a half to three hours long. On the way out we took the D train of medium speed. That train was pretty worn and it was hard to tell when it was last cleaned - shiver. . Monday, September 22, 2008. Sunday, September 21, 2008. Door to Door Toilet Sales? 160;This is were my lack of Mandarin speaki...

Wise Enough: Starting Fresh
http://wiseinshanghai.blogspot.com/2009/12/starting-fresh.html
Thursday, December 31, 2009. The Great Pumpkin Weigh-In - Wabasha, MN. Brian's parents have a biggest pumpkin contest each year. This year we were lucky enough to witness the pumpkin culture in person. We had a perfect day at Como this fall - I think it was one beautiful day in November. Wise Enough: October 2008
http://wiseinshanghai.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 21, 2008. Sunday, October 19, 2008. The Inconvenience of Communism. 160;We are Americans, we don't pay attention to those things - not when there are games to play and food to eat." But they refused to let us play - even though, if you looked around there were people all over not caring about the ceremony which consisted of clowns and an Olympic champion. . So maybe our frustrations don't all stem from Communism but it seems like a reasonable scapegoat to me. Wednesday, October 15, 2008.

The Kastes in Action: Norah Lost Her First Tooth, and Other Thoughts
http://kastesinaction.blogspot.com/2012/02/norah-lost-her-first-tooth-and-other.html
The Kastes in Action. Monday, February 20, 2012. Norah Lost Her First Tooth, and Other Thoughts. Oh, it's been too long. It's all so much more complicated now! I don't have loose pairs on mini Mermaid undies in my purse anymore that fall out during important meetings. IS swimming but it does uncannily resemble drowning. Anyway, some newly minted and conscientious lifeguard saw Teddy struggling back to the ladder and came in after him. Teddy described it as he was just. Right now that's the central questi...

The Kastes in Action: Halloween
http://kastesinaction.blogspot.com/2011/11/halloween.html
The Kastes in Action. Wednesday, November 09, 2011. About it on Halloween. Oh, and what do I hate? Do you want some candy? As she motioned generously with her arm across the pile. Is that Norah coming? Do I hear her? Then I have to deal with the guilt of my betrayal and lies when I look into their imploring (demanding) eyes: 'Mommy, WHERE'S MY CANDY? The Kastes in Action: November 2009
http://kastesinaction.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
The Kastes in Action. Friday, November 06, 2009. Catching up From October. As Cynthia noted in her essay on Grandma Gloria last summer, here's an example of Grandma Gloria and Norah 'talking it over'. She seems too little to be doing that already! Here's another photo from our last trip up north. Karl was so proud of the chicken fingers and fries/pop lunch he'd organized for them. (OH- was that a snarky tone I just took? Sunday, November 01, 2009. Oh October was busy. So busy, no blogging. Mostly...Norah...

The Kastes in Action: January 2010
http://kastesinaction.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
The Kastes in Action. Monday, January 18, 2010. Winter. On and On and On. Here's Norah, keeping herself busy at Teddy's wrestling tournament on Sunday. And here's Teddy wrestling! He really wants to do it. He just needs somebody to tackle and writhe around with. And I don't enjoy that job very much, and Karl fills in when we don't have practice, so now we're covered. Are all boys like this? Wednesday, January 13, 2010. Oh, Mommy is not paying attention here! Tuesday, January 12, 2010. So now here we are,...

The Kastes in Action: February 2012
http://kastesinaction.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
The Kastes in Action. Monday, February 27, 2012. Thank goodness it didn't matter all that much, and I got my Teddy either way. We spent the next year fighting with him to sleep at all, on the floor, lock the door, one of us at a time laying with him, it was insane. Certain things he is just IRON willed about. Now he still doesn't sleep much but he's kind enough to not want to cause us any consternation about it. But back then, 9 years ago, parenting him made me feel so inept! What is wrong with me? We ha...
