Ideas (thoughtful and less so). Archive for December, 2008. My take on gaza. December 30, 2008 @ 2:11 pm. 183; { politics. Hundreds of Palestinians have lost their lives in the past few days. Two girls, two sisters, the oldest aged eleven, were killed. No matter what you believe about the politics of this conflict in the middle east, no one with a heart and soul can say that is right. It is time to forget the past. It is past time to stop giving Israel a free pass because America believes Israel has ...

Decisions To Make?!?! | ideas (thoughtful and less so)

Ideas (thoughtful and less so). January 23, 2009 @ 3:47 pm. 183; { college. I thought I had it all figured out. The college thing, I mean. I was expecting to move to New York City next year and go to Fordham University. I was excited. I love both options. I love them so much that I don’t want to let go of either one. There are definite benefits to each one. I don’t know what to do. Somehow, my certainty and excitement have become paralyzing, exciting indecision. 2 Comments ». I figured it all out and Jac...

Ideas (thoughtful and less so). February 23, 2009 @ 10:21 pm. 183; { random. As I face important choices, as I am overwhelmed by responsibility, as I realize that I am sorely lacking in good decision-making skills, there are many, many times that I want to just escape, in many ways. Of course, there’s the feeling that physically escaping the situations will make it better, the desire to just. But that’s unproductive. And then, the need to escape back in time a few years. 1 Comment ». 183; { TrackBack.

Ideas (thoughtful and less so). January 12, 2009 @ 4:45 pm. 183; { future. As I make important decisions about my future, I’m excited, but also sad about the doors that are closed once I choose one to go through. Before making a decision, it feels like there are infinite amazing possibilities out there. I can only choose one, and I’ve chosen what I think is the best compromise between what I want the most and what is most practical. However, as I make my plans, I am incredibly sad about the things I.

indecision prevails | ideas (thoughtful and less so)

Ideas (thoughtful and less so). February 3, 2009 @ 3:29 pm. 183; { college. I am still indecisive. Also, if you want more details, feel free to email me, but I’m not going to bore my half-dozen readers by rambling on about the details of each choice. I wanted choices. That’s why I applied to so many colleges. Now I’m kicking myself for it; I am clearly awful at dealing with choices. 1 Comment ». On February 3, 2009 at 6:23 pm. She’s seventeen, and an actress, and she’s really accomplishing things in her chosen field. What have I done? I don’t know. I don’t know what the standard is. Sure, the girl mentioned in the first part of this post is probably not a good standard of comparison; most seventeen-year-olds haven’t done anything like that. But why. She be the standard? Should try harder, I mean. 183; { TrackBack.

little miss gnomide: November 2009

Nov 24, 2009. Writers Need Love Too. The writer cannot—unless she is Thomas Pynchon—hide from the world after she has finished her writing. A writer must go out into her community and connect with others: writers, publishers, librarians, journalists, and readers. Especially when a writer is competing (I despise that word) with so many other books, she must be accessible. But I want to be an author so badly that I push through the anxiety. Of course, a nice glass of La Fin du Monde goes a long way to ...

little miss gnomide: February 2010

Feb 23, 2010. I met Jason Pettus, founder of The Chicago Center for Literature and Photography. Recently, Jason became interested in how Twitter can be used as a publishing tool for short literary expressions. So he came up with the “TwitLit” experiment. What the project means to me? I was thrilled when Jason asked me to be a part of this project. In the past couple of years, I’ve been experimenting with short fiction. I want to see how much of a story I can tell in the least amount of word...8220;CCLaP ...
