Friday, July 8, 2011. Tour de Villas, Des Plaines, IL, July 2, 2011. Despite my dislike of all things hot and humid, I headed out in 90 degree heat for 30 minutes of Cat 4 action at the Tour de Villas. The course is a perfect oval in a residential area of Des Plaines…think Sherman Park, but with better pavement and less crime. Given the complete and utter lack of anything even remotely resembling a “turn,” I knew that this would be a shootout from start to finish. Criterium 101, truly.
