Adam K., j'accuse. Few things galvanize a cyclist's shattered confidence like breaking the chain on a little kid's Huffy. As most people know, victory eluded me at this past weekend's Colavita pre-cross season party when the components of a $5 purple bike (frame size 22 cm? Failed under the sheer strength of my legs. Or a chain that started sprouting rust during the height of the Lewinsky Scandal. Am I in any kind of shape to race from doing a lot of commuting and not a whole lot else? The Kansas City Po...

So things have been a little slow on this blog lately. OK, a lotta slow. But life has taken on a life of its own for me lately. I won't elaborate on the details here, but I deny any implication made by some. And perhaps others) that my balls have been taken away from me. Just one last thing that I discovered on Tuesday night: Most cyclists want race courtesy and etiquette for themselves. But not for others. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Team Colavita / Parisi. Hydration and other stuff. The other day, Britton K. made mention of the importance of hydrating. Now that the weather's been getting hot and impossibly humid. It got me thinking about the whole subject as I'm making the adjustment to the warmer weather. When I'm training in the doldrums of January, February and March, I don't worry as much about drinking a ton of water. In fact, in the Sheehan Road Race this year, which was a fairly balmy day. 8226; 60 percent carbs. 8226; 25 percent protein. I like num...

The Bonk Memoirs: September 2011

http://thebonkmemoirs.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html

Thursday, September 22, 2011. Chequamegon 40 recap and picture dump. Earlier in the year I was moderately motivated for this race. But leading up to it and spending lots of time on some sweet singletrack, a road race on MTB didn't seem interesting. However, I was committed and going to see what the hell was going on up there. In retrospect, if I get into the race next year, my bike will be on the start line at 5am to preserve a good spot. Heading out to ride IMBA epic Levis Mound trail. It's a long story.

On the Bike: True Sprinter

http://lifefromthesaddle.blogspot.com/2011/03/true-sprinter.html

A Colavita/Parisi Coffee Cycling team blog. Monday, March 28, 2011. I read your blog post last week. When did you do that 100-mile ride? Thanks man, I did it last year.'. Oh You're still writing about last year? A grin spans my face from cheek to cheek. I am because I'm still thinking about last year. Instead my answer comes out something like, 'people don't want to hear about me riding off the back at the Dam Race, so yeah.'. Are you still writing about last year? Flick Flick. Flick. I'm working to ride...

Stay Dirty: New Season

http://flatmtber.blogspot.com/2010/03/new-season.html

Team Colavita/Parisi Coffee racing blog. Monday, March 15, 2010. Well here we are. 2010 and a new season of racing. I didn't get any Cross racing in this last year as the funds didn't allow for a new bike, but that's ok. It seems to me that the cross season was a little hard on folks and some are feeling a little burnout when it comes to racing. Maybe that's just my perception, but anyway. Hardtail ordered before this season, oh well. I did race in the. Other than that my first race will be the.

The Bonk Memoirs: July 2011

http://thebonkmemoirs.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html

Sunday, July 24, 2011. The following week was rough for sure, it's currently been 2 weeks and my back muscles are still tender - but it's pretty good. Spent the past week in Lake Tahoe and San Francisco. Did some riding, not as much as I had hoped. I will say this, I like the road riding around La Crosse, WI better than tahoe. Didn't get to MTB as my back was still acting up. Tomorrow marks the arrival of this recent ebay purchase and new ride:. Wednesday, July 6, 2011. Wheelhouse Classic and CAMBA.

Saturday, July 28, 2012. Dopers shouldn't be allowed to compete in the olympics. End of story. It's a shame that a convicted doper won the gold - it's meaningless now. The Bonk Memoirs: March 2012

http://thebonkmemoirs.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

Thursday, March 29, 2012. Lets see how much I can remember from the last 4 months? Considering all the above I had a respectable time. Good enough for a wave 4 start next year which is probably where I should be. So on to riding and racing. I'm basically trying to attempt what I wanted to do last summer. Which is simply race a lot of MTB races and have fun. There will be a road race or two thrown in for fitness, but I want to get the epic 29er flying this summer. Really fast. 4/29 Decorah, IA MTB TT.

Wednesday, June 27, 2012. WORS #5 - Red Flint Firecracker. WORS stop #5 in Eau Claire. This is close as the racing gets to us in La Crosse so it feels like a home course. Jane and I still opted to go up Saturday and pre-ride. She was going to race in the sport category and needed to check out the loop. The course is flat, fast and flowing. The rain earlier in the week made it nice and not dusty or too dry. Only 300 feet of climbing or so per lap. Erik P leading out. Monday, June 18, 2012. Next week is an...

In Through the Perilous Fight, Washington Post reporter Steve Vogel does a superb job of bringing this woeful tale to life. He leavens his fast-paced narrative with lively vignettes of the principal participants in this folly. The War of 1812 remains one of the most important and least appreciated events in American history. In these engaging pages, Steve Vogel does much to rectify that, telling the story of a critical episode of the conflict with eloquence and insight. Now available in Paperback! Throug...
