Stitches and Smudges: March 2013

http://www.stitchesandsmudges.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html

Friday, March 22, 2013. This card was one of the first I ever made. The stamps, inks, markers, dies and punch were from someone else's craft studio. The paper was my own - something from a pad I picked up at WalMart. I used the card to accompany a gift for my niece when her fifth child was born. Welcome, Carpenter William Moore. Sunday, March 17, 2013. Just a fun card for a St. Pat's Day with the following Irish Blessing inside:. May God grant you always. A sunbeam to warm you,. A moonbeam to charm you,.

Stitches and Smudges: Watercolored Inlay

http://www.stitchesandsmudges.blogspot.com/2015/07/watercolored-inlay.html

Saturday, July 18, 2015. The card was inspired by the sketch at the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #116. I enjoy doing the inlay technique and felt in the mood to make something colorful. The card is also eligible for two additional challenges so has also been entered in Aud Sentiments Challenge #136. And Can You Case It? The scallops were die cut and adhered to blue cardstock. A strip of purple. To view creative cards, check out the challenges at Atlantic Hearts. Size: A2 (4.25" x 5.5"). Dies: Spellbi...

Thursday, April 30, 2015. It's time to submit a card for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #105. I managed to stick closer to the sketch than usual. This is a technique I've been wanting to try for a while. I first saw a tutorial HERE. That explained stamping on metal and hand embossing the image and have been interested ever since. So here is my first stamping-on-metal card. Be sure to visit the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge blog. For creative ideas and inspiration. Products are Stampin' Up! This ...

Sunday, July 26, 2015. Dancin' through the Milky Way. 8/2/2015 Update:" Dancin' through the Milky Way" was a Design Team Pick in the Can You Case It? My Milky Way card was going to be the original submission for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #117. But I decided to set it aside and submit THIS. Card But this morning, while tidying my work space, I retrieved the card from the heap on my table and decided to finish it. So now I have two submissions to the AHSC. And the other at Aud Sentiments #136.

Saturday, October 25, 2014. Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #78. I'm loving the new Artfully Sent Cricut Cartridge from CTMH. There are so many options for cards or just to cut out pieces for cards. On my entry for this week's Atlantic Hearts Challenge. I used one of the pocket card pieces (the piece with the "enjoy" cutout on it) and the fox is also from the new cartridge. I also used the Chalk It Up papers (love the color combo in that one! Thanks again to Atlantic Hearts for the inspiration! Thanks f...

Sunday, May 3, 2015. Three Amigos Blog Hop May. Welcome to the Three Amigos Blog Hop! We are three friends and fellow Close to My Heart consultants who challenge each other each month to create something. Stitches and Sew On...

Stitches and Sew On. Designs by Rachael Porter. Monday, January 21, 2013. When you're having fun sewing that is. I can't believe it's almost the end of January! I have been busily working on some new projects. All are English paper pieced, some with a bit of applique and of course lots of fussy cutting. Here are some close-ups of some of the blocks. This fabric is great for fussy cutting. I'm having heaps of fun with this one! Here's a little sneak peak of what I've done so far. Stitches and Sew On.

Wednesday, August 7, 2013. Glorious Mornings, Guaranteed. When I was in middle school, a restaurant called the Garden Cafe opened up across from my house. The food was sort of upscale diner. I don't really remember much about it except that they served breakfast all day and no matter what you ordered it came with your choice of muffin. Chicken parmesan? Blueberry muffin. Chop Salad? Bran muffin. Pancakes? You must like carbs, why not have an apple muffin? Pizza with caramelized onion, ham, and swiss.

Stitches and Sparkles

Sunday, April 13, 2014. How to make ballroom jewelry: the rhinestone bangle. Step one: stitch that sucker. I align the lycra edge with the rigilene edge (as best as I can) so that the lycra right side is down (if your lycra does in fact have a discernible right side) and so that the curve of the rigilene is also facing down (so you're stitching this to the inside first. Use a heavy enough needle too as this stuff is THICK! Fold over not once. Now that's a whole lotta excess fabric, so let's trim that down.
