When I was a young child, I used to spend pocket money on chocolate (yes, a weakness all my life! Or discarded library books from the Public Library. I've been doing a cull of books in our library lately. Students may notice the fiction section in particular seems "tidier" and that some of the shelves have been rearranged. Getting rid of books!

I've been reading some of our new purchases, and have found that two of them mesh well together. "A Winter's Day in 1939" by Melinda Szymanik is set in World War II in Poland, where 12 year old Adam and his family are uprooted and moved to Russia to work in a labour camp. Year 7 and 8 @ St Marys 2016. Friday, 8 July 2016. It was Neila's last day today and the class celebrated by sharing out a cake. We will miss her next term and wish her the best for her time at her new school. Thursday, 7 July 2016. We have been working on an inquiry into Matariki. These photos show some of the completed work. Room 10 @ St. Mary's Hastings. Wednesday, 16 November 2016. Tent Day - Cleaning Potatoes! Wild and windy weather. better than rain! We began the day by cleaning the mud off our potatoes. They'll be spotless for baking. We found clever ways of cleaning them. We began using our hands and water. Then sticks were found, they helped us scrap off the mud. Wednesday, May 18, 2016. Every Monday we enjoy getting fit riding around the bike track. Some of us try out our skills on the obstacle course. We think we are so lucky to have bikes in our school.
