Making a Kiwi Fly: And not a moment too soon
http://flyinkiwi.blogspot.com/2014/10/and-not-moment-too-soon.html
Making a Kiwi Fly. My flying story from never been in a light plane before to PPL and beyond! Wednesday, October 29, 2014. And not a moment too soon. I went up in a Tecnam P2008 to get current again. When I opened the door I was greeted with a placard on the instrument panel stating that Vfe had been changed from 68 knots to 80 knots. You may remember I made comments about this when I first flew one. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. And not a moment too soon. Ziln NZ Airside ...

Making a Kiwi Fly. My flying story from never been in a light plane before to PPL and beyond! Thursday, September 18, 2014. We had the club competitions recently to determine who would represent the club at the regionals. I entered my favourite competition and the one I am the defending champ, the liferaft drop. What was different this year was that we were going to use a Piper Pa28 Cherokee 181 Archer for the drop rather than the tried and true 172M JGP. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Stories from the Sky.

Making a Kiwi Fly: Cold n low
http://flyinkiwi.blogspot.com/2015/07/cold-n-low.html
Making a Kiwi Fly. My flying story from never been in a light plane before to PPL and beyond! Monday, July 27, 2015. The ATIS had a current temperature of 3 degrees C, a dew point of 2 degrees C and an air pressure reading of 1033mb. Compared with the ISA standard (15 degrees C and 1013mb) that's 12 degrees and 20mb better than ISA, so the magic density altitude formula. Third circuit was a normal one due to fellow club member and blogger Barry. That would be the 4th landing, as I slipped in a second gli...

Making a Kiwi Fly. My flying story from never been in a light plane before to PPL and beyond! Monday, July 21, 2014. After 45 minutes of coaxing all the ice off, I got the preflight done and we set about starting it up. The Archer 3 is always started on the left magneto only (don't ask me why, I don't know). After it turns over you press the button to engage the right magneto and set the throttle to maintain 1000rpm, which required a bit more than I thought because the engine was very cold. Some brief re...

Making a Kiwi Fly. My flying story from never been in a light plane before to PPL and beyond! Monday, March 02, 2015. This years competitions was held in Whitianga, just like it was when I competed in them 9 years ago. Oh why was I going if I wasn't competing? I got the ARFOR (area forecast) printed off, and it was pessimistic as usual:. VIZ: 30km, reducing to 6000m in SHRA, to 4000m in SHRA. WX: Few SHRA developing afternoon, isol SHRA over inland areas, clearing tonight. After getting all my gear stowe...

Making a Kiwi Fly. My flying story from never been in a light plane before to PPL and beyond! Sunday, June 22, 2014. Sorry, been awol. I left you all hanging for the second part of my trip to Warbirds over Wanaka. I apologise profusely, but there are some mitigating circumstances. I haven't been flying much because money has been rather tight. Despite the financial constraints I've had to find money for a renewal of my Class II medical and a BFR. Probably. Would I like to fly down? Suggested I might try ...
