Virtual Enviroments

Sunday, 6 December 2009. My Thoughts on our project. Wednesday, 2 December 2009. Week Eleven - Landscape. In order to create a landscape i wanted to do something i have never done before and a technique of doing landscapes is by using height maps, height maps give 3ds max a way of calculating elevation, from black the lowest part to white the highest part, if i was to create a heightmap in photoshop just by painting one would it work in 3dsmax, well i set out to find out. Virtual Enviroments: Week Eleven

http://www.stusve.blogspot.com/2009/12/week-eleven.html

Wednesday, 2 December 2009. Making a rusty bucket was a lot simpler then I thought, the line tool was used to create a simple line in the front viewport. After I applied the lathe modifier I selected the axis option in the lathe tree then moved the axis to where I want the lather to begin. When the lathe was applied all the way round, the ‘bucket’ still wasn’t right, a shell modifier was used to add a thickness to my model,. Then I have to scale the bucket to the correct proportions,. A simple metal text...

Virtual Enviroments: More to add to the outhouse scene

http://www.stusve.blogspot.com/2009/12/more-to-add-to-outhouse-scene.html

Wednesday, 2 December 2009. More to add to the outhouse scene. This post will show how to make a simple crate, with textures just to add to my scene, they can sit next to my house just to fill out the scene. I have selected the side polygon and clicked on the inset button and inset by 0.6cm. This will allow me to extrude just a part of the polygon by -3cm. I do this to all of the sides inset and then extrude and the polygon for the inside of the box extruded it by a little more. The final image textured ...

Virtual Enviroments: Week Ten

http://www.stusve.blogspot.com/2009/12/week-ten.html

Wednesday, 2 December 2009. In this post I will show how I was to create the ‘outhouse’ scene, step by step. This first thing to model was the house; I started off by creating a box with the following properties. My method for this model will be extruding the polygons to form the next part of the wall. I start the process like this, extruding the box the same width as itself. Ok here I have carried on the process and have created the walls to my house and have the holes cut out for the windows too. Here ...

Virtual Environments - Jeremy Phillips: December 2009

http://jphillipsvirtualenvironments.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html

Virtual Environments - Jeremy Phillips. Thursday, 10 December 2009. Week 12 – Reflection and Thoughts. Overall, I have enjoyed working through this module. Although the workload has been quite intense, the module has been very interesting. 3D modelling is not one of my strong points and probably not something I will be continuing very much with. However, it has been great learning new skills about 3D modelling, animating the models and learning the piece of software itself. Week 12 – Presentation. The pr...

Virtual Environments - Jeremy Phillips: Week 9 – Modelling Side and Handle

http://jphillipsvirtualenvironments.blogspot.com/2009/11/week-9-modelling-side-and-handle.html

Virtual Environments - Jeremy Phillips. Thursday, 19 November 2009. Week 9 – Modelling Side and Handle. Before I started modelling the side part I had been allocated, I decided to draw out the part onto paper so I could clearly see what I was modelling. Using the reference photos and video taken, I was able to create a drawing I could work from which was easier to use than lots of photos. The bottom of the lever was created by using a box for the metal plate and two cylinders placed on top of each other ...

Virtual Environments - Jeremy Phillips: Week 7 - Job Allocation and Beginning to model

http://jphillipsvirtualenvironments.blogspot.com/2009/11/week-7-job-allocation-and-beginning-to.html

Virtual Environments - Jeremy Phillips. Thursday, 12 November 2009. Week 7 - Job Allocation and Beginning to model. As I didn’t feel I would be able to model quite as much as some of the other group members, I chose to model a small section and then mainly focus on the post production audio and video editing. The parts I chose to model were the base that the whole engine sat on and a side plate with lever and handle. I removed polygons on one end to create a recess where the main body of the engine sat&#...

Virtual Environments - Jeremy Phillips: October 2009

http://jphillipsvirtualenvironments.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Virtual Environments - Jeremy Phillips. Friday, 23 October 2009. A Slightly Disappointing End. Not being very confident with 3D Studio Max, and finding the concept of 3D modelling quite challenging, I was able to complete the tutorial videos up to Part 8. I learned quite a few new techniques with 3DS Max along the way which should become useful when I start the next part of this assignment for this module. Thursday, 22 October 2009. I then continued to model underneath the chin, extruding lines to create...

Virtual Environments - Jeremy Phillips: Week 12 – Presentation

http://jphillipsvirtualenvironments.blogspot.com/2009/12/week-12-presentation.html

Virtual Environments - Jeremy Phillips. Thursday, 10 December 2009. Week 12 – Presentation. During the final week of the module, a presentation will be given to the clients, volunteers from the Museum of Power. The presentation will show the clients which model our group chose to create, how we went about researching and planning the animation and then finally how the model was modelled, animated and put into a video. http://jphillipsvirtualenvironments.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

Virtual Environments - Jeremy Phillips. Thursday, 26 November 2009. Week 10 – Sound Research and Editing. One of my tasks allocated for this project was to provide all of the sound effects used for the final animation. We decided that we wanted a mixture of sounds from the environment and sound of the engine itself. Thursday, 19 November 2009. Week 9 – Creating the Handle. To create the wooden handle, I drew out a spline line for the outside shape and then used the lathe modifier to create the entire han...

Virtual Environments - Jeremy Phillips: Week 11 – Rendering and Video Production

http://jphillipsvirtualenvironments.blogspot.com/2009/12/week-11-rendering-and-video-production.html

Virtual Environments - Jeremy Phillips. Thursday, 3 December 2009. Week 11 – Rendering and Video Production. The audio that I edited during the previous week was then added into the timeline to add to the video. We decided, as a group, not to include narration in the final video as the noisy environment of the Museum of Power would make it hard for anyone trying to listen. Finally, the timeline was rendered out to a Windows AVI file and also a QuickTime MOV file. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). This ...

Virtual Environments - Jeremy Phillips: Week 9 – Creating the Handle

http://jphillipsvirtualenvironments.blogspot.com/2009/11/week-9-creating-handle.html

Virtual Environments - Jeremy Phillips. Thursday, 19 November 2009. Week 9 – Creating the Handle. To create the wheel and handle, I started by drawing a helix with plenty of turns for the thread and making sure that the radius were the same. I then added an extrude modifier and changed the amount until the extruded part just touched the next coil. I then added a normals modifier to turn the thread the right way round as it was currently inside out. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Summary of Group Pro...

Observations Of a Very Average Guy. Stu Tells It Like It Is. ISIS; the Ultimate Future of Islam. Posted September 4, 2014. Filed under: Current Events. The group Islamic State or ISIS has FINALLY gotten the attention of the President Obama. No longer denying their existence or rating them as the Junior Varsity of terrorist squads, he’s taken notice after the group has beheaded two American journalists on camera.
