Good Jeans | Sustainably Me
https://sustainablyme.wordpress.com/2010/06/21/good-jeans
June 21, 2010 · Filed under Home Improvement. As I mentioned in my New Year post, last fall I had denim insulation installed between my basement and first floor. I made the choice to go with denim because it is:. Made from recycled materials. A better insulator than fiberglass (according to Bill Nye the Science Guy). There are a couple of downsides, however, including:. The expense, which is significantly more than fiberglass. The blue fuzz that has covered my basement. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

An organic farm in your own backyard. May 6, 2009 · Filed under Food. 183 Tagged cost savings. Newly Installed Farm in Brookline (Courtesy of the Green City Growers stream on Flickr). I found out last week that B.Good. One of my favorite Boston area food establishments, has done something that makes me love them even more. In addition to their delicious mango smoothies and baked sweet potato fries, they have installed an organic rooftop farm at their Brookline location! 1 Response so far ». LizaP’s...

My Backyard Farming Adventure. June 26, 2010 · Filed under Food. Last summer I explored the idea of an organic farm in my backyard. I had Green City Growers come out and give me a quote, but just couldn’t justify the expense. This year, a colleague told me about Square Foot Gardening. I built 2 2×3 planters and planted with:. So far so good! I love going outside in the morning before work to water the garden and pick salad greens to bring to work for lunch. It makes me feel really grounded and relaxed.

Friday, September 2, 2011. I come from a long line of crafty women and these beautiful garments were knitted by my grandmother. Sadly, she passed away when I was only three so I don't have a lot of memories of her but I have learned that knitting was a passion of hers. My aunt had been holding on to these baby clothes but I convinced her let me have them to frame. I'm sorry I never had the chance to learn from her but I'm glad that I have a few pieces of her work to inspire me. View my complete profile.

Thursday, July 22, 2010. I love my swiffer. Let's face it two cats make it a necessity. What I don't love is buying swiffer cloths and throwing them away so I decided to make my own. A quick internet search shows I'm hardly the first person to have this idea. After sifting through many different versions I landed on this tutorial. Which converts a ballband dishcloth into a swiffer cover (instructions for the ballband dishcloth can be found here. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Wednesday, August 31, 2011. I'm having a lot of fun knitting up this sweater for a movie lover. If you are a. Fan it might look familiar. The pattern is fittingly called "The Dude". And is available for free on Ravelry. It's a challenging knit with lots of colorwork but I'm so happy with how it looks so far. It's such an iconic sweater that I've even had a couple of folks recognize it even though I'm only halfway finished with the back. Links to this post. Friday, August 26, 2011. Links to this post.

Monday, November 22, 2010. My Sweater is Famous. My sweater was featured on the Craft blog. My friend asked if I would knit him a sweater and mentioned that it would be great if it had zombies on it. I searched high and low for a pattern but couldn't find anything that I liked. Always up for a challenge I decided to try my hand at designing one myself. I found this amazing site. Wednesday, June 13, 2012. I finally finished this. Ambitious project a few months ago. I'm happy to report it's gotten a lot of use and even a few compliments. Surprisingly, it actually didn't take as long to knit as I imagined it would, but the complicated colorwork did require extra attention so it wasn't the best project for social knitting. I'll leave you with one last shot of Josh doing his best Lebowski. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Make your own badge here.

Monday, March 7, 2011. The knitting spree continues and I recently finished this cabled cardigan. It was a free pattern from Lion Brand and more information is available on Ravelry. It was a good challenge and I'm feeling much more confident with cables now. Of course, not confident enough to show you an extreme close-up of the many mistakes that you'll find if you look closely at this sweater. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Thursday, July 7, 2011. I finally sewed something that I would actually wear in public! I made this skirt using Anna Maria Horner's. Skirt pattern which you can find here. The print would not have been my first choice but it's growing on me and paired with a tie front blouse, cardigan and my favorite bow necklace. I feel a bit like I'm channeling style icon Emma Pillsbury. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Make your own badge here. The Rusty Bobbin: Inklings.

Monday, June 21, 2010. Let's Go to the Movies. I've been hesitant to post this project because I haven't been able to get a decent picture. I guess these will just have to do. My cinephile husband has turned our extra bedroom into his very own movie theater complete with blackout shades, a giant screen framed by red velvet curtains and a popcorn machine. He lovingly refers to it as "Cinema Zyberdiso." In celebration of his movie palace I made this pillow for his captain's chair. Links to this post. This ...
