A TALE OF TWO CITIES = =. Thursday, August 15, 2013. Monticello (not the one in Utah). A couple weekends ago, Rod and I took a day trip to visit "Monticello", the home of Thomas Jefferson (he was referred to as "TJ" a few times on the tour) in Charlottesville, VA. We never figured out who Charlottesville is named for, but we had a really nice time visiting the house and the gardens. Here we are (I'm the one on the left, wink, wink). The weather was great, and we had a really nice time!

Boxing Day, December 26, 2012 found us following what has become a Christmas Tradition of sorts - assembling Newborn Kits for the LDS Humanitarian Center. This year's all-volunteer crew (I volunteered them! Were Aubrey, Grandma Bywater, and Rod. Thank you volunteers - very, very much. Grandma B handled all the counting and folding (and recounting for accuracy) of cloth diapers for the kits - which was a HUGE help. So here's the Class...

A TALE OF TWO CITIES = =. Thursday, November 8, 2012. The Speed of Life. Today I decided I needed to drive the new State Highway 130 here in the Lone Star State. It's been on the news all over the country because it has a posted speed limit of:. My decision to go on this joy ride was based on 3 things: 1) gas is under $3 a gallon (yep, $2.99 here! Here are my observations, now that I've made the drive:. The first exit was about 8 miles into the trip, and I noted the posted toll fees. If you have a Te...

A TALE OF TWO CITIES = =. Saturday, April 28, 2012. Everyone helped make them, and that was fun - I caught DeAnne with a surprised look on her face, but her rolls were, as usual, the most artistic looking of the bunch. Mackenzie's effort was pretty much confined to eating as many gummi "caterpillars" (her word) as possible, and coloring us a beautiful picture. (maybe it was her rendition of our Soo-Shee creations? Scott got a few gifts from the folks and. Posted by Rod and Diane Larsen. Also Honeydukes -...

A TALE OF TWO CITIES = =. Saturday, March 10, 2012. It is one of the oldest towns (now a city of 90,000) in Texas, and is located right on the Guadalupe River. We ate lunch at Fossati's Delicatessen, previously known as Fossati's Bar and Saloon from the time it opened in 1882 until just recently. It was originally owned by Frank Napoleon Fossati - sounds rather German French Italian to me! The downtown area has this wonderful County Courthouse, and picturesque town square park with a pretty gazebo. Victo...

A TALE OF TWO CITIES = =. Monday, December 6, 2010. To Salt Lake City via Louisville, CO. And each one sports a set of authentic Longhorns on the front grill. The Big Texan's claim to fame is their 72 oz. steak, which you get for FREE if you can eat the whole thing within 60 minutes. We opted not to compete. But just to prove that we really were at the BIG Texan, here I am in their Texas sized rocking chair - it's been a long time since my feet didn't touch the floor when I sat in a chair!
