Time on the Water: Self Humiliation!
http://opencontainer2.blogspot.com/2015/06/self-humiliation.html
Time on the Water. Liberty is being free from the things we don't like in order to be slaves of the things we do like. Wednesday, June 3, 2015. Lousy start and I went down hill from there. It's as if my mind went blank with 90 seconds to go and I reverted to past habits of trying to start on the pin end. I have less flexibility in terms of trimming control than on Das Boot. June 5, 2015 at 1:07 AM. Stop giving yourself a hard time? I hope you still enjoyed the evening :). June 5, 2015 at 8:55 AM. Premier...

Time on the Water: Spam-O-Phobia

Time on the Water. Liberty is being free from the things we don't like in order to be slaves of the things we do like. Thursday, March 8, 2012. I've been very silent as a blogger recently. It's not that I have run out of things to say. I feel I have much to say on OPB (other peoples' blogs). It's just that I have been majorly put-off recently. What has caused this to happen? My vast experience in blogging is that both features are deterrents to the enjoyment of spontaneous, lively and creative discussions.

Proper Course: RS Aero North Americans
http://propercourse.blogspot.com/2015/07/rs-aero-north-americans.html
Tuesday, July 28, 2015. RS Aero North Americans. This weekend I went out to the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon to sail in the first ever RS Aero North Americans. To be honest I had such a good time and I am still on such a high that if I tried to write a post today on how I feel about the trip, all you would get is a confusing babble of superlatives. So today, I will just stick to the facts and let pictures tell the story. Here are Peter Barton 1515 and Dan Falk 1384 at the front of the fleet. Coming soo...

Proper Course: 2015 International 14 North Americans at the Gorge - Drone Footage
http://propercourse.blogspot.com/2015/08/2015-international-14-north-americans.html
Saturday, August 01, 2015. 2015 International 14 North Americans at the Gorge - Drone Footage. Amazing video footage from a drone of the I-14s racing at the Gorge last weekend. The RS Aeros - also sailing their NAs on the same circle - make a brief appearance but the I-14s are the stars of this show. What spectacular boats! 7:58 AM, August 03, 2015. Glad you liked it. I noticed the rudder foils when the boats were out of the water. Didnt realize that they were there to fool the H2O. Brilliant! Prolific, ...

Proper Course: RS Aero Capsizes - Mission Accomplished
http://propercourse.blogspot.com/2015/08/rs-aero-capsizes-mission-accomplished.html
Saturday, August 08, 2015. RS Aero Capsizes - Mission Accomplished. It was getting to be a bit weird. Prior to the RS Aero North Americans in Oregon a couple of weeks ago I had sailed an RS Aero about 18-20 times, but I had never had an unintentional capsize. I had done some deliberate capsizes in order to make sure I knew how to do capsize recoveries. But in all those days of sailing the RS Aero I had not capsized accidentally once. My streak had to end some time. Even so I wondered how easy capsize rec...

Proper Course: Ten Reasons Why Sunfish Are Better Than Lasers
http://propercourse.blogspot.com/2007/12/ten-reasons-why-sunfish-are-better-than.html
Tuesday, December 04, 2007. Ten Reasons Why Sunfish Are Better Than Lasers. Regular readers of this blog will know that I'm something of a Laser nut. I am so emotional about the Laser that, at the slightest provocation, I can be triggered into a rant on why the Laser is the best boat in the world and into heaping scorn on any other kind of sailboats be they keel boats (leadmines), multihulls (why do you need training wheels? Or Force 5's (Laser wannabees for old farts). It's easier to rig. Stepping t...

Thursday, July 30, 2015. Throwback Thursday - Photo Quiz. OK Enough of posts about RS Aeros. This throwback Thursday photo was taken back in the days when my "other boat" was a Sunfish. That's me in the stripy shirt. What year is it? Who is the guy in the white T-shirt? A World Championship in a (sub)tropical location? Sorry, thats the best I can come up with,. 9:51 PM, July 30, 2015. So heres a clue: Calamari. 10:15 PM, July 30, 2015. Is that the answer to What did Tillerwoman have for dinner? Who was t...
