The Tao of Poop: Forty is the New Fabulous
http://taoofpoop.blogspot.com/2014/05/forty-is-new-fabulous.html
The Tao of Poop. First-time mom blogging about the ups and downs of raising a child. Thursday, May 1, 2014. Forty is the New Fabulous. I get distracted at toddler story hour at the library. I guess I don't find The Hungry Little Caterpillar. As edge-of-your-seat compelling as my daughter, Claire, does. My mind seems to wander to the other mothers seated around the perimeter of the circle. Sometimes, I even get caught staring. Creepy, right? But I just can't help myself! My thought: Why do I need a man?
The Tao of Poop: Letting Go of Control as a Mom
http://taoofpoop.blogspot.com/2014/03/letting-go-of-control-as-mom.html
The Tao of Poop. First-time mom blogging about the ups and downs of raising a child. Sunday, March 9, 2014. Letting Go of Control as a Mom. The Demas family had a bad morning getting out of the house the other day. Or, perhaps, it's more accurate to say I had a rough start. As did the weather, which decided to change seasons overnight. Dividing my attention between Claire and locating new clothes in the hinterlands of the closet was not part of my to-do list. What's more, I was shuttling between the bedr...
The Tao of Poop: Bad Mommy
http://taoofpoop.blogspot.com/2014/02/bad-mommy.html
The Tao of Poop. First-time mom blogging about the ups and downs of raising a child. Thursday, February 13, 2014. Blogging has become the equivalent of a church confessional of sorts. Okay, I'm game! Or, rather, I have no shame.which brings me to my first confession: I would do anything for a laugh, including fessing up to some Bad Mommy moments. My second confession? Some of these dirty little secrets amount to more than "moments". 2 - Serving the same meal for breakfast, lunch and dinner. 14 - Only bel...
The Tao of Poop: What You Didn't Expect When You Were Expecting
http://taoofpoop.blogspot.com/2013/09/what-you-didnt-expect-when-you-were.html
The Tao of Poop. First-time mom blogging about the ups and downs of raising a child. Monday, September 23, 2013. What You Didn't Expect When You Were Expecting. It all started with Katia. Posting on social media that her one year old had done a number on her eye (see below), which led to other mom confessions of bodily harm (a lot of bodily harm), as well as exasperation about the many indignities of motherhood that didn't seem to make it onto the pages of parenting books. Of course, as moms and. And, le...
The Tao of Poop: My Geriatric Pregnancy
http://taoofpoop.blogspot.com/2013/09/my-geriatric-pregnancy.html
The Tao of Poop. First-time mom blogging about the ups and downs of raising a child. Thursday, September 19, 2013. I must have deserved a medal the time that I decided to try and have a baby at age 44. Or I was crazy. Well, the medical profession seemed to think so. I switched to a midwife. I didn’t help my plight much by consulting Dr. Google for reassurance. He is the king of doom and. In a sense, I don’t envy the position of those in the medical community though. They need to prepare women f...I can p...

Crafts for grown ups. Kids Art and Craft ideas. Thursday, 23 October 2014. Making Early Literacy Fun. Goblin is 5 years old. I wrote a little bingo grid of simple sight words that have been showing up in his reading books frequently. Then I made another set which I chopped up and stuck (with blue tac) around the house - mostly at his eye level. Some other games we've been playing include sliding words, haunted house word matching, fishing for letters and making our own simple reading books. Center a href...

The Golden Gleam: Ordinary Rituals with Children
http://www.thegoldengleam.com/2013/09/ordinary-rituals-with-children.html
Ordinary Rituals with Children. Sunday, September 29, 2013. Every single trip to the grocery store, the twins are eager to see the monster. They wave and say hello to the monster. It doesn't matter that he doesn't talk back. It doesn't matter that the monster is actually a longhorn cow. They used to be scared of the monster, but he grew on them. And now he is like a loyal friend always there greet them. My younger children didn't always have this feeling of being grounded to this city they now call home.

The weather was hot and muggy.

Tao Of Rawk
An oral biography of Chuck James and Sumo Potpie. May 08, 2010. Thought it was only fitting that I write this one. That I do something for a change. Everyone else busting their ass to make some kind of record of everything that went on. Pin down the experience - Shared Experience - of what happened at that point in everyone's lives. And is it because I fear going back that I want to avoid all this? I want some sort of plausible deny-ability when being confronted with my past? Chuck was the one that was r...
