Sandy Straits and Beyond: April 2015
http://sandystraitsandbeyond.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Sandy Straits and Beyond. Monday, April 27, 2015. Even under the mangroves the reflections were nearly perfect. I stayed well out from the roost where I expected to find shorebirds and then sat sill on the kayak and let myself gradually drift in closer. When I do this the birds allow a much closer approach than if I paddle in with paddles flashing in the sunlight. Of course the Pied Oystercatchers were there and reflected in the still water. Several more photos of the Little Egrets made a great finish to...

Sandy Straits and Beyond: November 2014
http://sandystraitsandbeyond.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Sandy Straits and Beyond. Tuesday, November 25, 2014. High Tide at Mullens Roost. Walking around to the Mullens roost becomes more interesting when the tide is very high. Just how deep is the water around that tree and would it be easier to scramble through the bushes behind the tide line? High tide makes the roost look very beautiful. Something disturbed the shorebirds on the other side of the roost and they all flew up then settled down again on that side. Monday, November 10, 2014. Quite a number of o...

Alouk: A little puppy with empathy?
http://aloukmadeit.blogspot.com/2011/08/little-puppy-with-lots-of-empathy.html
Saturday, August 13, 2011. A little puppy with empathy? When I read the puppy books I was told over and over to yelp like a little pup would whenever my girl bit me- well that NEVER worked for me! Stella has had two major issues when she is walking- biting and spinning on the lead and pulling ahead of me. A few weeks ago Stella was going crazy on the end of the lead, spinning around, biting it and in her confusion she went behind me and I accidentally stepped on her toe! What an empathetic little thing!

Alouk: May 2009
http://aloukmadeit.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 27, 2009. After a bit of a drought on the felting front, I re-inspired myself with some amazing alpaca that I bought at an Australia Alpaca Day celebration- which was pretty funny in itself! So I made this special scarfe, I really wanted to play with a different way of finishing the edges of the scarfe so I made little holes and loops, which ended up working a lot better than expected if I may say so! It was lovely being back at the felting board! Here she is with it. Links to this post.

Sandy Straits and Beyond: In My Yard
http://sandystraitsandbeyond.blogspot.com/2015/06/in-my-yard.html
Sandy Straits and Beyond. Tuesday, June 23, 2015. I have a large house block - 2100 sq M. (which is just over half an acre). When I first came here the immediate need was for a fence that would keep my dog and cat at home with me! The easiest and cheapest was a good high wire fence which I then proceeded to hide with a lot of perimeter plantings. After 12 years here I now have lovely green walls that keep growing. One side is now a hedge of Lilly Pillies (. Which has to be trimmed regularly! I planted th...

Sandy Straits and Beyond: Mid-winter feeling like spring
http://sandystraitsandbeyond.blogspot.com/2015/07/mid-winter-feeling-like-spring.html
Sandy Straits and Beyond. Tuesday, July 7, 2015. Mid-winter feeling like spring. Yesterday was a perfect day - blue sky, bright sunshine, and a temperature of 24 (75F). I went down to the Mullens Picnic area to see what birds were around. At 9:30am the tide was slowly coming in. I had to go down again three hours later just to take a photo of high tide at the same place. And plenty more in full flower. The birds were there in hundreds - all calling and shrieking at the tops of their "birdy' voices! Littl...
