Burgh Gourmand: Why Food Tastes Better In Pittsburgh
http://burghgourmand.blogspot.com/2011/01/why-food-tastes-better-in-pittsburgh.html
Writing about food and Pittsburgh. Friday, January 28, 2011. Why Food Tastes Better In Pittsburgh. This couple served food from a truck on Carson St. for over a decade. Now indoors at Cambodi-can Kitchen. Pizza at Winghart's in Market Square. They make a killer burger too. This man shares well-crafted food in a tremendously comfortable dining room. An English reader shared a ploughman's lunch with me after I tweeted about Irish Cheddar :). I propose that largely it's the people that make Pittsburgh an at...

Burgh Gourmand: Winghart's in Market Square
http://burghgourmand.blogspot.com/2011/04/recent-eats-in-pittsburgh.html
Writing about food and Pittsburgh. Wednesday, April 13, 2011. Winghart's in Market Square. The Shipwreck burger on a side of fries. Waiting for over an hour in Parking Court, for nothing. Wingharts in the corner of Market Square Downtown. The "Crew" from my second visit. Blue (left) and Captain (right). Though I didn't taste the pizza, I saw great care being put into their production. The line of people were patient and smiling and the wait was not long. My online friend bumped into me and we sta...So, I...

Burgh Gourmand: Crate & Barrel Ross Park & White Cheddar Kettle Popcorn
http://burghgourmand.blogspot.com/2010/12/popcorn-boxes-for-10-crate-barrel.html
Writing about food and Pittsburgh. Sunday, December 12, 2010. Crate and Barrel Ross Park and White Cheddar Kettle Popcorn. Much better than Ikea in my opinion. More expensive, but nicer. Feeling like a bull in a wine glass shop as I took this. Short on money ( after too many $1 tacos. And too many gifts for the nephews, I restrained myself to the purchase below: old fashioned folding popcorn boxes (as seen in the movie Diner. And a 1.5lb jar of Midnight Popcorn (both "on sale" for $5.99). This used to be...

What do you mean no meat or cheese?! - BYOBurgh
http://byoburgh.weebly.com/1/post/2012/06/what-do-you-mean-no-meat-or-cheese.html
What do you mean no meat or cheese? 1 bottle "Cabernet Franc" from Chappellet. The food was incredible. Makes us see why all those Hollywood stars are raw/vegans! If I could take this chef home with me to prepare everything his way, I'd definitely think about changing my lifestyle. We sat outside on a tiny patio just below street level. Super cute, perfect night with just a tiny chill in the air. Theo, perhaps our new BFF, was a wonderful server! Our first dive into the raw/vegan world! Flavors combined ...

Writing about food and Pittsburgh. Thursday, June 14, 2012. Osteria 100, Downtown. Executive Chef Greg Alauzen's resume includes tenures as executive chef at the Steelhead Grill and Eleven. He's now the executive chef of a small group of restaurants including Cioppino. Elysian Fields lamb slider. This is a nice place to visit, and I recommend it. Burgh Gourmand: Smoke Barbecue Taqueria in Homestead
http://burghgourmand.blogspot.com/2012/01/smoke-barbeque-taqueria.html
Writing about food and Pittsburgh. Wednesday, January 4, 2012. Smoke Barbecue Taqueria in Homestead. My favorite. The pork taco with apricot habanero sauce and caramelized onion. If you follow me on Twitter, you know this place counts for about 40% of my chatter. And Las Palmas in Brookline. Yes, Homestead; the other side of the railroad tracks. The part without the new box stores and Disney façades. Eighth Ave. between Amity and Anne, across the street from the vegetarian Tin Front Cafe. Not to mention ...
