Ralph Villiger on NTOMBIFUTI. Nevertheless, I cannot deny that the six great northfaces of the Alps are all very appealing climbs. I have actually taken up climbing with the goal to climb the Eiger northface. So the 6 northfaces yes they are a desirable collection (I know that this lacks of consistency, but passion defeats reason). The 6 great northfaces are:. Eiger, Bernese Oberland, Switzerland. Grandes Jorasses, Chamonix, France. Matterhorn, Zermatt, Switzerland. Petit Dru, Chamonix, France.

Ralph Villiger on NTOMBIFUTI. I did the 2013 OSTAR from Pymouth to Newport. The start was on May 27. The conditions were pretty rough and after two days I had to turn around because Ntombifuti was making too much water, the bilge pumps did not work properly, the autopilot worked very unreliably, and the sweet water pump of the engine was about to die. I put into Brest. Race, against prevailing wind and current, cold, foggy, possibly through icebergs, with a lot of hardship. In 1972 Bob Miller's yacht.

Ralph Villiger on NTOMBIFUTI. On the way to Greenland (from Norway) lies Jan Mayen, another tempting goal. Of course, all depends on weather and ice conditions. After Greenland the boat will stay in Iceland or possibly in Scotland. That, at least, is the plan. The Teufelsschloss lies at the banks of Kejser Franz Joseph Fjord in the National Park North-East Greenland. This region is already quite far north and only August or September seem suitable months to go there by sailboat ( climatology data.
