Saturday, June 11, 2011. SBC Ice Cream Cookoff? This is 4 days worth of email that went through the whole church email distribution list. cracked me UP all week! Signed: The world greatest Homemade ice cream maker. When no response was given, this followed:. Signed The World GreatestHomemade Ice Cream Maker. Then I HAD to respond:. How do you have time to type such novels? Everyone else- IT'S ON! Then this came across the wire:. Cherilyn, the member of the Spencers Family that made the challenge for the ...
{My} Life: Solar System Reports
http://cherilynspencer.blogspot.com/2011/06/solar-system-reports.html
Friday, June 10, 2011. Her class was learning about the solar system. They learned "Uranus" and all had a good laugh about it. She then talked about how mature students don't laugh at that word, and from then on. they didn't! One girl was up giving her report and said, "You can fit 18 moons in Uranus." and the kids sat there WITHOUT laughing. The teacher cracked a smile, but this is CLASSIC! I would have been laying on the floor busting a GUT! October 30, 2011 at 12:36 AM. View my complete profile.
{My} Life: Home Cooked Vittles- TX Food Part V
http://cherilynspencer.blogspot.com/2011/04/home-cooked-vittles-tx-food-part-v.html
Tuesday, April 5, 2011. Home Cooked Vittles- TX Food Part V. Texas has a ton of restaurants! Of course, so does any city in America. But seriously. no one should go out to eat for every meal, every single day (although I know a family who does). So head sized donuts, BBQ, Chuy's, and Muellers aside, we did have several meals at home. First off, I learned that anything can be put in a tortilla at breakfast! Ohhh, I need a post about TX tortillas. They were unlike any I've ever had! Well I hate them. B...

Saturday, February 19, 2011. We're Gonna Knock You Out! Well I enjoyed watching the Stanfield boys beat Heppner for the 3rd time this season in basketball, and a funny memory popped into my head during one of the boring moments of the game. It became apperant what they were looking for. a tooth. They called the boys to the sideline and the coaches and refs continued to look. Then they brought out some cleaner because there was blood on the floor. Then. We. Heard. It. The Stanfield cheerleaders, who.

Thursday, February 3, 2011. IKEA, beautiful IKEA. Last weekend I spent a few days with my family in Portland. One of the highlights of the trip was discovering my newfound style at IKEA. I started by going through the "small stuff" section, where I got wine glasses, power strips, a lint roller, a canister set, and 2 small canister sets that will be perfect in my quest to create the perfect sugar scrub for gift giving in 2011. I love, love, love this bookcase! I'll take pics of this when it's finally done...

Thursday, March 3, 2011. Od People in Old Days and Food in Old Days". Here is a story that I just unearthed from a huge pile of Daily 5 stuff. One of my students wrote it and I think it's hilarious. Here's food in old days, corn, mashed potatoes, apples, and bananas. Just healthy food. It was crazy. No candy, just health food. The people were called pilgrims. They had no video games but tag and stuff like that. Not that cool. Just tell me, do you want to be a pilgrim? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Saturday, February 26, 2011. Old School. New School. I've shared pics of my current school a few times over the years, but nothing compares to my classroom this year. It's always messy, seems unorganized, and there's garbage everywhere! Busy that we don't have time to clean and organize! Really, it's true. For your refreshing pleasure, here is my current classroom. It won't stink or have mold, and hopefully won't have dust or spiders for a good, long time! Sunday, February 20, 2011. Friday, March 25, 2011. BBQ- Part II (the dry meat). Yesterday we went to Louie Mueller's (pronounced Miller's) for authentic Texas bbq. Now that I've seen this place, I understand that Rudy's from the other day is a chain restaurant! I'm glad that I got to experience REAL TX bbq. The atmosphere. messy but that's what it's supposed to be! The walls are covered in soot! In Oregon you get a steak, or a big hunk of pot roast, but here you get little chunks of different kinds of meat. Awesome. The other meat...

Teaching to Learn
Thoughts, stories, and life in China. Wednesday, May 27, 2015. Have you ever been in the grocery store and seen a child who has been told, "No."? The 'bad' kid throws a fit. Screaming. Crying. Begging. Kicking. Laying in the middle of the aisle. Throwing things. It's awkward for those witnessing, and mortifying for the parents. That was me this past weekend. I had high hopes and expectations for our 4-day Memorial Day weekend. We were going to have FUN! We were going to get stuff DONE! I failed this test...
Teaching to Learning | Bridging the gap
Public Speaking and Interviews. Although I work for a competitor, I have to really hand it to Western Governors University as to how they handle coaching in their programs. Similar to the Westminster College Project-based approach, WGU evaluates student projects against a set of competencies rather than have them listen to lectures and take tests. Westminster still seems to be the only school that offers professional coaching with their programs. Read the full New York Times article here! The education s...
