Teaching to Learn

Thoughts, stories, and life in China. Wednesday, May 27, 2015. Have you ever been in the grocery store and seen a child who has been told, "No."? The 'bad' kid throws a fit. Screaming. Crying. Begging. Kicking. Laying in the middle of the aisle. Throwing things. It's awkward for those witnessing, and mortifying for the parents. That was me this past weekend. I had high hopes and expectations for our 4-day Memorial Day weekend. We were going to have FUN! We were going to get stuff DONE! I failed this test...

Teaching to Learn: January 2012

http://www.teachingtolearninchina.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

Thoughts, stories, and life in China. Monday, January 16, 2012. In my recent travels, I spent some time at an airport bookstore. I picked up Rob Bell's book, Love Wins. Now, I will admit that I have not (yet) read the whole book. So, my beef right now is simply with Bell's assertion that God- as a loving God- could not possibly have planned for all the unredeemed to suffer eternity in hell. Are we reading the same Bible, Mr. Bell? Is yours missing the entire book of Romans? Labels: Caution: My opinion.

Thoughts, stories, and life in China. Thursday, February 14, 2013. Wow, it's been a long time since I've been in the blogging world. I miss it. I miss looking at your blogs and hearing your thoughts and getting glimpses into your lives. I miss putting my thoughts into words on a screen, and hearing your feedback. Being overseas helped me understand that social media and blogs really do connect people, especially people you wish you could see every day but can't. February 17, 2013 at 7:47 PM. Every Tongue...

Teaching to Learn: I lied.

http://www.teachingtolearninchina.blogspot.com/2015/05/i-lied.html

Thoughts, stories, and life in China. Saturday, May 9, 2015. Perhaps I was a little too eager. Life quickly got very busy and my life over the internet became very low on the priorities. Still is. But today I find myself trapped in my son's room while he tries to nap and thought I would pop over to my good ol' blog and see what was happening. (BTW, I have a son! Like I said, life quickly got busy! So this is my life now. And I love it. May 19, 2015 at 12:34 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Joy in ...

Soli Deo Gloria: January 2012

http://krshadle.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

Teaching, living and learning in Argentina. Thursday, January 5, 2012. Why do I love my job? Because my students are fantastic. So what does a typical day look like? Language Arts and read aloud. Spanish(sometimes 2 periods of Spanish and with a different teacher). Science or Social Studies. Or when we created the Sistine Chapel in our classroom and the kids drew Bible scenes under their desks and then we put them on the ceiling. Always a favorite. (They can sympathize with Michelangelo now! Or, how do w...

My Heart is in China. China Made Me Do It. By My Heart is in China. Staring at my empty room. Nothing but a few suitcases. I’m overcome with emotion. It’s that time again. Time to begin another adventure. Oh how bittersweet it is! Desiring to freeze time. To relish in the moment. Laughing with old friends. The list, quite endless. But alas, time continues. A new season is beginning. Although it’s hard to let go. Comforts of what I had once known. I step out, excited! Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Thoughts ...

My Heart is in China. China Made Me Do It. A New City, A New Life. By My Heart is in China. Before moving over to this side of the world, I had to make a fairly difficult decision. The two years I spent here prior, I lived in the city of Chengdu. Oh how I love that city! But I felt a guiding by my sweet Prince to explore another option; a different city. After much thought, I made my choice. Now I’m living in a new city, famous for its Terracotta Warriors; a city so rich in history. Jul 02, 2014. Thought...

As I share with family and friends of my soon departure, I find myself nonchalantly say, “Yep, I’m off to China again in just 6 more weeks.” I watch as the facial expressions vary from excited to shocked! Public Speaking and Interviews. Although I work for a competitor, I have to really hand it to Western Governors University as to how they handle coaching in their programs. Similar to the Westminster College Project-based approach, WGU evaluates student projects against a set of competencies rather than have them listen to lectures and take tests. Westminster still seems to be the only school that offers professional coaching with their programs. Read the full New York Times article here! The education s...
