Wednesday, June 19, 2013. Spean Bridge to Strontian Scotland June 19, 2013. We rode for about 10 minutes when the skies opened up and the wind kicked up fiercely in our face (about 40-50km/hour winds) as we rode along the eastern shore of Loch Shiel, a beautiful loch that looked a lot like the California coast (sans sunshine). Tuesday, June 18, 2013. Newtonmore to Spean Bridge Scotland June 18, 2013. Each day gets more and more incredible here but each day gets harder and harder. Even though our mountain biking technical skills are improving each day, this is seriously challenging terrain. At various points today, we felt like we were in Western Canada. I had no idea that Scotland was so mountainous. Snow capped peaks are staring us in the face from every direction. A car with automatic transmission. A box of kleenex/tissues.

Joe's Bike Ride Across America. Sunday, July 10, 2011. Evidence from the forest fire of 1988 is still visible. There are still vast areas of burned tree trunks. Growing among the burned trunks are younger trees, probably about 20 years old. This view is during the drive south towards Canyon Village. It would be hard to not see wildlife at Yellowstone.
