Our internet is back! Resume transmission! - rob
http://ademus05.livejournal.com/129564.html
Our internet is back! 12:09 am July 8th, 2008. Our internet is back! Yesterday marked the end of a half-month drama between me and Comcast, my internet provider. As I calculate it, I've stayed home for technicians 5 hours and spent about 9 hours on hold with Comcast, trying to explain the situation. I'll record my tale of woe here, in hopes it might help future generations. 2008-06-25 - I call and ask for another technician. Again, another hour on hold. Problems persist all this time. 2008-07-06 8AM - An...

October 13th, 2009. 01:53 pm - How does this even happen? Customer has some of those god awful "control panel" servers. not Plesk, but the same concept. You get the idea. $vendor is forcing him to do a migration, because they no longer support FreeBSD, so they want him to move to CentOS. $customer contracts with $vendor to maintain these things. sorta, mostly, except he's still responsible for maintaining the actual servers. Confused yet? Don't click if you don't know or care what SQL is. March 4th, 2009.

January 5th, 2010. 08:02 pm - Cheap Chinese netbooks: THE REVIEW. My friend Trey was looking for a netbook for his wife this Christmas. It needed to be as cheap as possible (her restriction, not his) - she actually wanted "a $150 netbook", which wasn't really possible. So, I ended up hitting eBay and discovering that it was FLOODED with interesting Chinese-manufacture no-name netbooks. To get my hands on that thing to play with it! Today, it finally got here. Frys "Components Quality Assurance Program" half-trained monkey #115076 - DIAF plz K? Rant from the other side of the aisle for a change. AKA one of THEM is hiding behind a bench! Then I look at the box a little closer. What I first thought was an inventory control or order management sticker now takes on a new meaning. Components Quality Assurance Program. It's not part of a stock management system. It's an indicator this is a pre-used and tested part. Post a new comment. We will log you in after post.

I can't stand the term "Jargon". I feel that it's become an insult to all technical professionals by those less knowledgable and especially by those who rely upon our skills more than they realise. Sure it's pedantic at times, but in a world where the littest mistake can cause chaos we need to be. Post a new comment. We will log you in after post. We will log you in after post.
