The Forty-Five: The Theory of Politics versus Politics
http://thefortyfive.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-theory-of-politics-versus-politics.html
Saturday, August 08, 2015. The Theory of Politics versus Politics. There are times I actually hope I do not make it through the 2016 political cycle. Social media has only made this phenomenon worse. And we are only early into the season, through the first round of preliminary debates for one side. It has made me sit and think about things. What it made me realize is that I like Political Theory, not so much politics. Practically, what does this mean? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Lord Naoshige sai...

The Forty-Five: On The Turning Away
http://thefortyfive.blogspot.com/2015/08/on-turning-away.html
Friday, August 07, 2015. On The Turning Away. On the turning away. From the pale and downtrodden. And the words they say. Which we won't understand. Don't accept that what's happening. Is just a case of others' suffering. Or you'll find that you're joining in. It's a sin that somehow. Light is changing to shadow. And casting it's shroud. Over all we have known. Unaware how the ranks have grown. Driven on by a heart of stone. We could find that we're all alone. In the dream of the proud. In a silent accord.

The Forty-Five: 2015 Garden Update
http://thefortyfive.blogspot.com/2015/08/2015-garden-update.html
Wednesday, August 05, 2015. In the constant land of learning, the garden has been a world of education this year. As I have mentioned before (and numerous times), gardening somewhere new is also about learning what grows where. This year has been no different but with some surprises:. Onions: My onions from fall planting did okay. My spring planting, less so. Only Fall plantings. Garlic: Same as onions. See above. Pumpkins: They did well but were done by June. Sorghum: This did great! Black Eyed Peas: On...

The Forty-Five: February 2015
http://thefortyfive.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 28, 2015. Too Much or Too Little. We are into ice this morning - ice that has caused the cancellation of some events and the delay of others. I stuck my nose outside this morning and yes, yes it is cold. According to the weather, it is 30 F outside right now. It has been colder for sure, but it certainly feels much colder than it is. We are, apparently, under a "Winter Storm Watch" until noon today with a mix of "Wintry Precipitation", whatever that means. Is it trying to do too much?

The Forty-Five: Glimmers of Clarity
http://thefortyfive.blogspot.com/2015/08/glimmers-of-clarity.html
Monday, August 03, 2015. Glimmers of clarity do not come often. But, occasionally, they come. There was a sense last night, driving home from getting some last minute groceries, that I had suddenly had some clarity, clarity on things that I could not have predicted last Thursday. It is always a shock when such things occur - I look so long for such things and yet am surprised when they suddenly appear. What pushed things to the moment? So what does this practically mean? Secondly, it means accepting that...

The Forty-Five: The Between
http://thefortyfive.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-between.html
Tuesday, August 04, 2015. From the Origin to the Destination. Lies the Between, that place where. We live our lives. It neither really here nor there,. A shadowland of becoming. In the midst of living. Becoming in the Between. Means always feeling displaced,. Lost, never quite sure of the footing. Because Between is not where we are going. Nor where we are coming from;. It is the murky fact that we are - unfinished. Therefore despair not if you feel. It merely means you have not yet arrived. New England ...

The Forty-Five: Gone Throwing
http://thefortyfive.blogspot.com/2015/08/gone-throwing.html
Friday, August 14, 2015. Today I leave for a weekend of throwing. Well, really a two days of helping and a day of throwing, plus set up and break down. My reward for this endeavor? Heat, sweat, a floor to sleep on, a ride to and from, water, snacks, and a shirt suitable for wearing. Oh, and seeing the best group of people of the world. And pushing the heck out of myself to try. Go and have an awesome time - you need it and deserve it! Sending you much love. I hope that you have a really good time TB!

The Forty-Five: March 2015
http://thefortyfive.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 31, 2015. The Failure of the Search for Truth. We no longer seek the truth. Or perhaps, we no longer have a stomach for it. Truth is now nothing more or less that what one feels that it should be. It becomes even more concerning in that we seem to have surrendered the search for truth in the first place. This has become nothing a search for the justification of the position's one holds. Anything contrary to this is either to be buried or simply ignored. There are plenty throughout the enti...

Simply become insane and desperate.'" - Yamamoto no Tsunetomo, Hagakure. Deal with the truth you find, not the truth as you wish to find it.". Ichiryo Gusoku - Philosophy.
