Week 26: serpent eyes | wendy moyer • textile artist

Wendy moyer textile artist. Mid-Week 26: ayoyote anklets. Mid-Week 27: spinal update →. Week 26: serpent eyes. So this week I bode my time painting and installing serpent eyes. Eyes don’t take that long to paint, although there are many layers of colors for depth to achieve a proper reptilian like eye. However, there are three glossy top coats, and each can take upwards of 12-24 hours of dry time. Making this a longer process than most would expect. Close-up of serpent eye. Serpent eye mount in place.

The sound is a little like a maraca, but deeper, more resonating. Definitely cannot pass quietly wearing these. Next I think will be the eyes of the beast. Until then….

Wendy moyer textile artist. Week 26: serpent eyes. Week 27: not much to show →. Mid-Week 27: spinal update. I tried it on today while he waited, and that little extra curve makes the piece much more comfortable to bend forward in. I can’t honestly say the spine will never touch the back of the models head when she bends forward, but it comes to rest gradually instead of with a jolting whack. Until next time…. Julieanne Long - Textile Artist
Julieanne Long - Textile Artist. Julieanne’s work is influenced by the natural world with a special love of the sea and gardens. Many found and recycled elements are used in her textiles; the juxtaposition of natural elements depicted using man-made rubbish interests her and comments on mans’ wastefulness and the pollution of many beautiful places with rubbish. The work uses traditional techniques of embroidery, felting, basketry and weaving and adapts/subverts/combines these to produce works of beauty.

Wendy moyer textile artist. Posted in Work in Progress. The Start of a Commission. I’m working on a new piece a commission which came along when I really needed the boost. It is perhaps the most intricate piece I’ve done to date and will incorporate a large agave, a few organos and a bushel of yucca flowers. Best of all, it pushes me into the studio, a place where I need to spend more time. Agave leaves from sketch to pattern to padding. White base coat on a sculpted agave leaf.
