http://hercheyk.blogspot.com/2015/06/the-most-west-texas-meal-ever.html
Saturday, June 13, 2015. The Most West Texas Meal Ever. Today I'm thrilled to introduce a guest post from. My second older brother (you get to figure out what that means). There are two recipes below, with results at the end of the post. You may remember Josh from my trip to visit him in New Zealand. From his blog To Insanity and Beyond. At various points in my life, I’ve held the following jobs:. Working at a chicken factory. Doing the grunt work that no one else wanted on a construction site. The yucca...

Insert Clever Phrase Here: Musings on The Wheel of Time: A Deeply Flawed Masterpiece
http://meranalf.blogspot.com/2014/03/musings-on-wheel-of-time-deeply-flawed.html
Insert Clever Phrase Here. Monday, March 31, 2014. Musings on The Wheel of Time: A Deeply Flawed Masterpiece. I just finished reading* the final book of the massive Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. I have a lot of thoughts about it, so I decided to work through some of them here on the blog for everyone to see. I will do my best to keep things spoiler-free. Well, listening to. Three cheers for audio books! Apparently seven books and sixteen years longer. And the story is huge, growing bigger and bi...

Insert Clever Phrase Here. Sunday, March 25, 2012. Musings on Tolkien: The Golden Child and the Silver Child. After listening to hours and hours of lectures by the Tolkien Professor. Reading plenty of Tolkien, and even auditing a couple classes. Is a great resource. The whole idea for the golden child and the silver child got its start several years ago when I was looking at this painting with the Platypus. Friday, March 9, 2012. Top and Bottom of 2011 - #1. Insert Clever Phrase Here: Musings on Christmas Songs
http://meranalf.blogspot.com/2013/12/musings-on-christmas-songs.html
Insert Clever Phrase Here. Monday, December 16, 2013. Musings on Christmas Songs. With the Christmas season upon us, it is impossible to go anywhere without being inundated with Christmas songs. I have also noticed that different places will play a different selection of Christmas songs which got me thinking that most Christmas songs can be placed into one of four basic categories. 1 – Jesus Songs. 2 – Santa Claus Songs. 3 – Christmas Season Songs. 4 – Winter Songs. December 16, 2013 at 7:17 PM. Huh, I n...

Insert Clever Phrase Here. Thursday, November 24, 2011. My 2011 Movie Odyssey - Part II. Me, I am thankful for movies from the good to the bad, in their wide-ranging genres and subject matters. Exit Through the Gift Shop (2010). It tells an interesting story about racist attitudes towards the alien population in America, but it would have been better if the violence had been toned down and the fun factor increased. Invaders from Mars (1953). I have no idea because the movie never bothered to tell me....

Insert Clever Phrase Here. Monday, December 17, 2012. My Thoughts on The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. I think the biggest flaw of the film is its structure. In my previous post. A few random thoughts:. When Bilbo had trouble pulling the dagger soon to be known as Sting from the head of the warg, was I the only person to think, "Who so pulleth out this sword of this skull is righwise born king of Middle Earth"? Why are all the goblins CG? The chin bag on the Great Goblin is disgusting. That's just about...

Insert Clever Phrase Here. Saturday, August 25, 2012. Musings on Tolkien: The Hobbit Trilogy and How I Would Do It. The first movie focuses largely on Bilbo. He is in all but one or two scenes. Movie one also lays the groundwork for the White Council storyline. The climax is the fight with the spiders in Mirkwood and ends with Bilbo and the dwarves getting captured by the elves. The big problem I see with this structure is that movie two has very little of Bilbo. However, the book states that Gandalf...

Insert Clever Phrase Here. Tuesday, January 31, 2012. Top and Bottom of 2011 - Honorable Mentions. The Doctor’s Wife (2011). Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny (1972). The Ice Cream Bunny! Why didn’t I think of that? Coming up next: Movies that are fun (and not-so-fun) for the whole family. Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny. Saturday, January 28, 2012. My 2011 Movie Odyssey - Part XV. This is a surprisingly smart action movie with some really slick driving and shockingly brutal violence. Ip Man 2 (2010). This is ...

Insert Clever Phrase Here. Saturday, December 31, 2011. My 2011 Movie Odyssey - Part IX. Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011). I enjoyed this noir-ish mystery and the character of Mildred Pierce is fascinating, but I wanted to strangle her daughter Veda (though to be fair, that’s the response I was supposed to have). Kind Hearts and Coronets (1949). This black comedy is fairly amusing. The main reason to watch it is to see Alec Guiness play all eight members of an old, aristocratic British family. It...
