Wednesday, April 29, 2009. I guess it's time to start paying attention to this whole swine flu problem. It's reached the U.S. - resulting in at least one death so far. Including a possible case in Rogers Park. That's plenty close enough that it's probably a good idea to start taking some precautions. Just like I have in the above picture. Apparently, someone at the radio station reads us, so here are some suggestions to improve the newscasts:. Learn the local geography. For example, just because it has a Gardner Road address, doesn't mean it's in. Less meeting agendas, more hard news. Ask the "locals" how to pronounce names you're not familiar with. Everybody's happy about the agreement that the schools reached with the city to extend the TIF for 12 more years. Some of the school board candidates are even using the agreement in their campaigns. This leads to the second problem. The TIF is a de facto way for the city to tax the rural areas. Why? The school boards, especially, should be ashamed. Links to this post.
