THE BIG WIDE WEST

THE BIG WIDE WEST. Monday, December 26, 2011. I've moved and renamed my blog:. Monday, December 5, 2011. Lessons from a lazy, but hungry, climber. Readers of this blog will surely be familiar with the "Send-wich". Pack as much meat, cheese, mayo, mustard, onion, etc between two bread-ish platforms as possible. Sometimes the delicious filling bursts the bread-y bounds and you just carry it around in a feed-bag. Either way, it's a powerful way to fuel any sort of adventure. This advice we ignored, and opte...

THE BIG WIDE WEST: THIN RED LINE

http://thebigwidewest.blogspot.com/2011/09/thin-red-line.html

THE BIG WIDE WEST. Tuesday, September 6, 2011. The Thin Red Line is the 3rd best long granite climb in the low-to-mid 5.12 range that I've ever been on! It's so good, I figured I would write out some beta for all y'all granite-loving hard-people out there. So, the spraydown:. Blake stemming it out on P3. P3 continues underclinging left under the white overhang, and then P4 continues left out the adjacent, darker-colored roof. We climbed the first pitch of "Freedom or Death", and recommend it! P2: 511, 20m.

THE BIG WIDE WEST. Sunday, November 13, 2011. Carry Less, Climb More. LESSONS FROM A LAZY CLIMBER. This post is something new for this page, but far from original in the world of climber internet spray- logs. This is an advice post. In the next few posts, I'm going to share some lessons and tricks that I've learned in the pursuit of fast and light rock climbing. But now, the first lesson:. One GriGri, one Reverso. There are a ton of advantages to this system. The belay is always auto-locking, which a...

THE BIG WIDE WEST: In the land of Red, White, and Granite.

http://thebigwidewest.blogspot.com/2011/08/in-land-of-red-white-and-granite.html

THE BIG WIDE WEST. Tuesday, August 2, 2011. In the land of Red, White, and Granite. My late summer roadtrip has officially commenced, I'm in Squamish, and everything is going swimmingly. The mellow feel of this self-proclaimed "Outdoor Recreation Capital of Canada" is just the sort of atmosphere into which I can immerse myself, ignoring all outside happenings. In Canada, by law, all signs must be printed in both English and French. A bug-eyed view of town, from the Chief. Finishing U-wall. We attempt...

How the west was climbed. Climbing and adventure in the great west. Adventure is just over the horizon. The Journey begins here. Tuesday, April 6, 2010. More action, different day! Brad Gobright redpointing Superfly! My buddy Scott Bennett buzzed me a couple days ago to inform me that there was a pending attack on Superfly again. By now you should be somewhat familiar with the name of this route. It's a lesser known but total classic in Eldorado Canyon up in Kloof Alcove. Joe about to enter the business.

I'm so psyched to finally get a couple photos published in a soon to be released guidebook from Stewart Green. It's called "Best of Denver and Boulder" and should be out in the fall. Hopefully this is just the beginning! Nick Chan feeling the exposure on the Naked Edge. Jill Cooper on the timeless classic Bastille Crack. Monday, August 02, 2010.

Red Sea Home: Once a Week Cooking

http://redseahome.blogspot.com/2012/04/once-week-cooking.html

Monday, April 9, 2012. Once a Week Cooking. Ever since I started my new job. To do something about this I decided to try cooking a weeks worth of lunches and dinners over the weekend when I had much more free time and energy. I started slow only doing 2 recipes at a time on Sunday but now I can easily make 4-5 meals plus a tasty treat. A few tips I've picked up on as I've done this the last few weeks:. Read all of your recipes before starting and get a feel for what order to work in. Food for the week.

Red Sea Home: House on the Rock Rocks!

http://redseahome.blogspot.com/2011/09/house-on-rock-rocks.html

Tuesday, September 27, 2011. House on the Rock Rocks! Over labor day we drove to Illinois to visit my best friend and her family for a few days, and while we were there we drove up to Wisconsin to visit the House on the Rock. If you've never been, it's what is sounds like, but the house and surrounding buildings have turned into museums full of a bit of everything from anywhere. More eggplants, this time white eggplant which look like little eggs growing on a plant until they turn yellow. One of the best...

Red Sea Home: Happy Birthday and my New Job!

http://redseahome.blogspot.com/2012/01/happy-birthday-and-my-new-job.html

Tuesday, January 10, 2012. Happy Birthday and my New Job! Yesterday was a great day. I was supposed to start my new job last week, but it got pushed back until yesterday. I wasn't sure how it would go, and of course I had some nerves about it. I spent the whole day in safety training, and I'll be spending the next five days plus another two after that doing more training and orientation. Everyone was so genuinely nice. In my last job, safety training was important but really dull. Really dull. Another fu...

Monday, July 16, 2012. Hey Look a Craft. Aka my job has been taking over my life! Now that I've gotten off track talking about work, it's time to focus on the fun weekend activities instead! Ages ago I saw a cute door decoration. On pinterest courtesy of Marsh madness. With work settling down, I took a trip last weekend to Joann's to see what kind of fun goodies I could find. I ended up with several cute storage boxes to use in our linen closet, tissue paper for another craft (coming soon! To wrap around...

I created it in 2001 and it has developed over time. I am interested in the big questions. Why does the universe exist? How can we be happy? How to be happy. A skill worth learning. Eternal life part 2. The nature of time. Why there is something instead of nothing. 31. How we could use them. 5. Where did it all come from?
