The Book Coop

Tuesday, 25 January 2011. Dear Readers… I am flying the coop! I think I have come to a decision. I am definitely hopping over to Wordpress so please, please pretty please go and add my Wordpress blog to your blog feed thingy – whatever it is you use. I just want a fresh start and I really like the behind the scenes of Wordpress –even though the themes aren’t as customisable – I’m rotten at all that anyway. If you would like to subscribe to my new blog’s RSS feed click HERE. And I hope you will like it!

The Book Coop: Trendy Reading

http://thebookcoop.blogspot.com/2010/07/trendy-reading.html

Friday, 2 July 2010. However Goodreads didn’t do everything I wanted it to at the time so at the start of 2009 I created a spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel. Here it is:. Maybe it’s best I keep in the closet but I happen to quite love my spreadsheet. It’s definitely very useful for looking back and seeing my year objectively and visually. Is it because I don’t want to move out of my comfort zone? Am I not interested in different cultures, different histories, different politics? I do have a fair amount of t...

The Book Coop: To change or not to change, that is the question…

http://thebookcoop.blogspot.com/2011/01/to-change-or-not-to-change-that-is.html

Friday, 21 January 2011. To change or not to change, that is the question…. Here is the thing. I’ve been looking at Wordpress and I’m wondering, should I convert? I have imported this blog over there to see what it would look like and there is something cleaner and more grown up about it. Maybe I just need to spruce up my blogger design here… but the thing is I’m starting to like more what I see over there. Is this a case of the grass being greener on the other side? What do I not like about Blogger?

The Book Coop: Any Human Heart - William Boyd

http://thebookcoop.blogspot.com/2010/05/any-human-heart-william-boyd.html

Saturday, 29 May 2010. Any Human Heart - William Boyd. I wondered what book I should start this blog off on. I have just finished Where Angel's Fear to Tread by E. M. Forster which I shall review later but I would like to begin with one which I really loved and a bit about other things I love too - excellent TV Dramas (the more period the better) and my favourite actor. Any Human Heart by William Boyd. You can read my Goodreads review here. You can also follow the production team @AnyHumanHeart. We decid...

I am a mom to five year old twin boys, who definitely keep life interesting and fun. I recently finished my master's degree in special education. I really love reading (and I'm actually a little obsessed with it), hence my blog. I enjoy reading YA, chick list and romance books! I'm also on goodreads.com. View my complete profile.

Fallen....For Books: December 2011

http://fallenforbooks.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Tuesday, December 27, 2011. Enthralled by Melissa Marr (and other authors). Completely Smitten by Susan Mallery. Misguided Angel by Melissa de la Cruz. Schuyler and Jack are on a mission to continue Lawrence's work and figure out just what is going on. Mimi is back in NY playing regent. I really enjoyed this book, and actually had read Bloody Valentine prior to this one, so the bonding that takes place in that one makes a little more sense. Stargazer by Claudia Gray. Happy Chaos by Soleil Moon Frye.

Fallen....For Books: February 2012

http://fallenforbooks.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html

Wednesday, February 15, 2012. Sugar Rush by Donna Kauffman. Cute story of a New York City pastry chef who moves back to her summer hometown, Sugarberry, Georgia and opens a cupcake shop. Her big city mentor (and resident hottie chef) follows her with his tv show to win her back. I enjoyed the story but Kauffman's writing style just isn't as easy to read as others. I liked the relationship aspects and the character working in her own bakery and using baking as therapy (which I can totally relate to).

Saturday, January 21, 2012. Bloodlust by L.J. Smith. Really enjoyed reading about Stefan's past. Happily introduced to Lexi and got a little backstory of how she and Stefan met and just how and why he changed from a killer to a vampire with a conscience. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Fallen....For Books: Tempest by Julie Cross

http://fallenforbooks.blogspot.com/2012/02/tempest-by-julie-cross.html

Wednesday, February 15, 2012. Tempest by Julie Cross. At age eighteen, Jackson realizes he can time travel. Fast forward to 2009, he and his girlfriend get caught up in a horrific shooting in which his girlfriend Holly is fatally shot. Before he knows it, Jackson is "jumping" backwards in time two years. Despite everything he can't get back. This was a slow going book for me. Took me a really long while to get into it, but I did enjoy the storyline even if it did have quite a bit of science fiction.

Sunday, October 30, 2011. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Friday, October 21, 2011. Silence by Becca Fitzpatrick. Seems like it could happen. The ending was open to one or it could just leave us hanging. And as usual, gorgeous cover! Saturday, October 15, 2011. Die For Me by Amy Plum. Love, love, love this book! First, gorgeous cover. I'm so in love with it. I love everything about it! End of Days, Fallen #3 by Thomas E. Sniegoski. Fox Inheritance by Mary E. Pearson. In her first book of this "serie...

http://fallenforbooks.blogspot.com/2012/01/into-gauntlet-by-margaret-peterson.html

Saturday, January 21, 2012. Into the Gauntlet by Margaret Peterson Haddix. I was really excited when I realized the clue hunt was over. Crazy me thought, yay, end of series. But why is there a book eleven? I now know. Dan and Amy may have finished the clue hunt, but now they have a new mission. My mission is now to decide: do I keep reading or call it quits. I've enjoyed the series but after reading a previous series that was twelve books long, I told myself no more long series! View my complete profile.

Don't Call It A Comeback! OK Maybe a Little One.). Posted by Becky at 8/14/2010 06:16:00 pm. As you may have noticed, the posts on this blog have been a bit MIA of late. Our last post here was in May, which in real life is only a couple months, but in Blog-Land, much like celebrity marriages, a few months is something like 19 years, and we've filled that with a plethora of emptiness and nothing. So very sorry. Please accept our sincere apologies for the radio silence lately. Where she somehow manages to ...

The Book Coop

Book Review: 1864 by Tom Buk-Swienty. This is a non-ficion book about the 1864 battle of Dybbøl in Denmark against Prussia, 18th April. Have you heard of it? Unless you’re Danish or German, or you’ve recently watched the Danish TV drama of the same title, it may not be too familiar. The memory of Napoleon reigns large in the minds of the people taking part in this battle. Many of the old commanders were veterans of the Napoleonic wars. What was war like back then? Reading this book makes me want to find ...
