The Book Life: April 2009

http://thebooklife.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

Wednesday, April 8, 2009. When I have loved an author's first novel, I'm very hesitant to read their next one. I fear I will be disappointed and it will tarnish the memories of the first. Not so with Sonata for Miriam. All the things I loved about her first novel, Astrid and Veronika. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Exiles in the Garden by Ward Just. That Old Cape Magic by Richard Russo. Tuesday, March 31, 2009. Jazz in the Lowcountry. Although I'm still searching for connections to and in the book community here in the lowcountry, I have found a vibrant and wonderful jazz community. Last Saturday, for the small coverage charge of $5, we were able to list to 2 sets by the Robert Lewis Trio: Robert Lewis, Frank Duvall. All this great music.lucky me! Saturday, March 28, 2009. The Abused Book Liberation Project | it’s like an animal rescue center except for the deranged bibliophile from Atlanta part

The Abused Book Liberation Project. It’s like an animal rescue center except for the deranged bibliophile from Atlanta part. The Abused Lace Liberation Project. My mother is amazing. Really. She is incredibly smart, humble, gorgeous and totally naive about the world. That makes her adorable. My eventual response, after fighting down the panic attack, is “Mom, the world’s been ending for a long damn time.”. This is where God gets funny. First, I laughed at myself for finding theological truths in science ...

Sunday, June 8, 2014. The Fault In Our Stars: A Movie Going Experience. While the movie was fantastic, this is not a review of The Fault in Our Stars. It is a re-accounting of the movie going experience. Proceed with caution, because there may be some spoilerish content. Also, my interpretation of this experience makes me feel really old. As so many others, I went to see The Fault in Our Stars. And I just kept thinking to myself "please let them all be seeing Maleficent. I honestly cannot remember. May h...

The Book Life | What I'm thinking about what I'm reading

April 19, 2011. Final are winning, this April, in the contest between law school and NaPoWriMo. Friends are also winning. I’m okay with all of this, and all it means is that I’ll be continuing my 30 poems well into May. The final final is May 2, and perhaps I’ll manage a few poems between now and then, and then I’ll pick back up again in earnest. NaPoWriMo. Has had such great prompts, and I want to try them all out! April 13, 2011. It’s so hard to write poems about friendship. But this poem wants to be.

I feel like there is so much to talk about in this book. Friday, September 4, 2009. Tuesday, August 25, 2009. I'm not sure how many of you got the re...
