The Retta Show: Soft Pretzels
http://therettashow.blogspot.com/2013/07/soft-pretzels.html
Monday, July 15, 2013. Last week my brother and I took a cooking class at our local grocery store. First we made humus from scratch, then we made fluffy, soft pretzels. Ever since the class we've been begging our mom to cook either or both of those. Today turned out to be the perfect baking day thanks to the rain! Our first batch was sprinkled with salt and seeds. My mom and I made classic pretzel shapes. Clifford tied a lovely knot and also made a clamshell (not pictured). 2 teaspoons kosher salt. In th...

http://therettashow.blogspot.com/2011/05/snow-cones-bahama-freeze.html
Saturday, May 28, 2011. Frozen Treats: Bahama Freeze. All winter long my brother and I looked forward to Bahama Freeze opening it's trailer window for sweet, frozen goodness. On the first day that the temperature reached 100 degrees my mom and dad took us for snow cones before the pool. We both picked Bahama Freeze flavor. We always pick size small. For $2.25 it's the perfect amount to cool you off and make you crazy with sugar! Clifford got pink bubble gum and as usual was the first one finished. On Ice...

Friday, June 21, 2013. When I went to Yo-Way. Today I sampled what are now my two favorite sorbet flavors: sour apple and strawberry lemonade. They were so yummy AND really pretty swirled together. At Yo-Way the bobas are called poppers and they have two flavors of them: strawberry and yellow. 4301 W William Cannon Dr #160 Austin, TX 78749. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Retta Show: Episode 21: Acorn Squash
http://therettashow.blogspot.com/2008/09/episode-21-acorn-squash.html
Friday, September 19, 2008. Episode 21: Acorn Squash. We've gotten a few of these acorn squashes from our farmer. And decided it was time to cook them up. This recipe is really similar to the butternut squash recipe, but I think the two squashes taste different from each other. And that they deserved their own shows. My brother, who did not like the butternut squash, loved the acorn squash. 2 Tablespoon Brown Sugar. Preheat oven to 400°F. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Frozen Treats Around Austin.

http://therettashow.blogspot.com/2012/07/snow-cones-hybsa.html
Monday, July 2, 2012. Frozen Treats: HYBSA Concession Stand. Snow cones at the Hays Youth Baseball/Softball Association fields are awesome! Best of all, they only cost $.50. But besides that the parents who work the stands soak the ice with lots of yummy syrup. And if you happen to be playing ball that day your snow cone is FREE. If you don't feel like playing pick up a snow cone and get ready for some awesome ball watching. These fields are great fun! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Art in the Park.

The Retta Show: Frozen Treats: d'Lites
http://therettashow.blogspot.com/2013/07/frozen-treats-dlites.html
Sunday, July 21, 2013. I don't know why it has taken me so long to write about this place because we have been here many, many times since it opened. The owners are super nice and the ice cream is always DELIGHTFUL. My mom likes it because it is actually pretty light and we can get a perfectly sized kid's cone for about $2.50. I love how the flavors change every day! My favorite way to eat soft serve ice cream is swirled together. Today I got chocolate lava cake swirled with frosting. Your blog is great!

The Retta Show: Frozen Treats: Zilker Cafe
http://therettashow.blogspot.com/2011/04/zilker-cafe-snow-cones.html
Monday, April 4, 2011. Frozen Treats: Zilker Cafe. Last weekend after a hot and sweaty bike ride to Zilker Park my brother and I headed straight for the concession stand for icy cold goodness. For $2.50 you can get a sugary sweet snow cone (they call it "snowie ice") in all sorts of fun flavors at the Zilker Cafe. I chose pina colada and blue raspberry. Super yummy! Clifford picked root beer and lime, a combination I don't recommend unless you like toothpaste, because that's what it tasted like.

But they gave him a big chunk of ice to ease the sting and we were able to enjoy our treats away from the bees in the shade. I'll go back there, but next time I will ask for less syrup. Thursday, March 6, 2008. Episode 14: Baked apples. My mom bought two giant containers of apples this week at Costco and the very best thing about that is that we have had baked apples for dessert THREE nights in a row! That sauce that gets drizzled on in the end is sooo yummy . I could eat that all day! Here's my recipe for Baked apples with dried cherries and pecans:. 1/3 cup dried cherries. 1/3 cup pecan pieces. 1/3 cup maple syrup. 3 tablespoons sour cream. 3 tablespoons crushed gingersnaps.
