The Crayon Lab: November 2012

http://www.thecrayonlab.com/2012_11_01_archive.html

Wednesday, November 28, 2012. The Crayon Lab is probably the third or fourth blog I have started over the years. It is hands down the one that sees the most traffic and is therefore most. What makes a blog successful? I am honestly not sure. I know my audience for this blog is other art teachers. I can tell from looking at my statistics that over 5,000 people come to my blog each month. FIVE THOUSAND! That seems like a lot to me since I am just over here chugging along doing what I do. Where do you teach?

The Crayon Lab: iPortraits

http://www.thecrayonlab.com/2014/10/although-not-original-idea-by-any-means.html

Wednesday, October 29, 2014. Although not an original idea by any means, this iPortrait lesson is still a fun one and one of my favorites. As more art teachers start to embrace technology in their classrooms, I thought it would be beneficial to share it again. Here is a PowerPoint that describes the steps:. I have also included the lesson plan so you can take it and GO! Email me if you have any questions: thecrayonlab@gmail.com! Posted by The Crayon Lab. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

The Crayon Lab: Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes....

http://www.thecrayonlab.com/2015/08/ch-ch-ch-changes.html

Sunday, August 2, 2015. This is going to be my mantra this year as I enter my 20th year of teaching art. TWENTY! I can hardly believe it. Instead of staying where I was comfortable, I thought I would completely change it up this year by moving to a new school district AND by teaching a whole new grade level! I am now, officially, a middle school art teacher. Did you read that and become alarmed for me? Is that what you are thinking? Posted by The Crayon Lab. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Ginny Piech Street: July 2014

http://piechstreet.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

There was an error in this gadget. Wednesday, July 30, 2014. Studio Still Life #2. Tuesday, July 29, 2014. Martha Pulls A Print. Several weeks ago I had the pleasure of teaching. A 2 day course in basic screen printing. The best thing about this class was my student, Martha. Artist, teacher, former screen printing company owner. Martha, why am I teaching YOU? Turns out she wanted to see its viability in the classroom. But I think she was mostly just having a lot of fun. And so was I. Nary a wrong pull.

Ginny Piech Street: Busy Week!

http://piechstreet.blogspot.com/2014/08/busy-week.html

There was an error in this gadget. Tuesday, August 12, 2014. While every week is a busy week for us all, last week. Was particularly busy with events and studio time. A few of the things that happened. In the studio I've been working. On illustrations for an article on color and clothing. And contemplating colors for new flowers. The week cranked up out of the studio around Thursday. With an all-day session for Art Mundo's. Summer art camp for children. At this week's Art Walk. Scribbled on the table.

http://msclarkheartsart.blogspot.com/2011/10/we-eat-you-up-we-love-you-so.html

Monday, October 24, 2011. We will Eat You Up, We Love You So! Yay for a new lesson inspired by one of my favorite childhood books: Where the Wild things Are by Maurice Sendak! After reading the classic book, we discussed all the different animals and textures that were used to create all the "wild things". Students were shown a demo on how to convey "visual texture" of the animals skin and how use the bas relief technique with paper to create 3d tails, fur, feathers, etc. Lots of fun! The art room plant.

Thursday, July 14, 2011. Several months ago, I wrote a post asking for cans with a large pop top. I promised to show some of the finished products. I started by using a can opener to open the bottom. I washed the cans, filled, then hot glued the bottoms back to the can. I found that pineapple cans worked the best, because they were large and help more goodies! Monday, June 13, 2011. Of course, I am still painting: plates, buckets, canvas,.the list goes on and on:) This canvas is one I finished up las...
