For almost a month, I had contractions that were pretty regular, and sometimes painful, so 4 times, yes 4, Peter and I headed to the hospital to be checked thinking that I was in labor. No luck! Running hither and yon. Canning Tips and Guidelines. I have found some interesting tips from various websites related to canning. I’ll come from time to time to add tips to this post. 2 No rice or pasta. 3 Barley is okay, such as in veg-beef soup. 4 Always pressure can, never water bath, if canning anything other than fruits. 5 Do not thicken soups or stews when canning. Do this when serving. 6 Pre-soak and partially cook beans before canning. 1/3 of the jar should be beans, and 2/3 should be water.

Monday, July 29, 2013. Eleanor is a year old! How on earth is that possible? AND, how is it that just one month ago she only had 2 teeth and was just pulling herself up and today she has 8 teeth and is attempting RUNNING. I kid you not. This girl started walking 2 weeks ago and is already trying to speed it up. Ruby runs fast - someone feels the need to catch her! This girl is all over the place. Josh says that she's like Yoda.
