recipe-driven observations from the sublime to the ridiculous
The Dinner Files :: Africa
http://www.thedinnerfiles.com/category/africa
Recipe-driven observations from the sublime to the ridiculous. Fried goat and discomfort. I am just back from Addis Ababa. It is big and sprawling and amazing and smoggy and fascinating and filled with traffic and rubble and green and yellow painted corrugated tin construction fences. The tej and goat were consolation for our inability to see the waterfall, baboons, and medieval monastery we had set out to see. As we headed back to Addis our driver-friend asked if we wanted to stop for lunch. The...After...

The Dinner Files :: ice skating
http://www.thedinnerfiles.com/category/ice-skating
Recipe-driven observations from the sublime to the ridiculous. But the first time he really skated – which, during his many protests that he’d already gone and didn’t like it when I was saying that since he hadn’t actually skated yet he had no idea if he liked it or not, I described as gliding on the ice with alternating feet – was on December 30 in the Parc La Fontaine in Montréal. A pretty damn magical place to skate. Don't Miss A Beat. Dinner files on facebook. Dinner files RSS feed. Books I’m In.
The Dinner Files :: eggnog
http://www.thedinnerfiles.com/category/eggnog
Recipe-driven observations from the sublime to the ridiculous. The BMW of eggnogs. I have a friend who is the kind of person who is asked to do things like drive a BMW around for a month and write up a few blogs about his experience driving a BMW around. While I’m quite happy not driving a BMW or any other automobile around, I must admit that I would like to be the kind of person about whom someone thinks: Hey, you know what would be interesting? Several cheeses, an orange cake, a turtle tart, some brill...

sfgirlbybay: All New Beholder.
http://sfgirlbybay.blogspot.com/2008/02/all-new-beholder.html
Wednesday, February 6. Is all new. New artists, and a new way of doing business. Yes, there's still a bevy of artists curated and represented by Suzanne Shade, The Beholder's. Creator and gallery owner. But Suzanne has also opened up the floor to emerging artists to sell their own work directly, albeit via The Beholder. How exactly does that work? Well, I'll tell ya. Each artist has their own page. That links to their work. The artists that are represented by the gallery are called Beholder. ERoomService...

Backyard Garten: November 2009
http://backyardgarten.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
The seasonal antics of an urban gardener. Wednesday, November 25, 2009. Christmas is around the corner. Whimsical felt Christmas trees from Sirkka Kannusmaki's. Website are anything but boring. A gleeful garland from Dottie Angel. Simple and sweet hanging mobile from Emma's Designblogg. I've never been a fan of deep red and forest green. Delicate pinks and minty greens are a girly and fun alternative. Check out Yvestown. For more of the same. Bling out your place with sparkly wall art from Nice Package.
Backyard Garten: January 2010
http://backyardgarten.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
The seasonal antics of an urban gardener. Sunday, January 31, 2010. I just killed a magical zucchini. It lived to be a ripe old age of 5 months. Truly ancient, in zucchini years. I don't know how this zucchini kept so long and the real tragedy is that I don't know it's variety. It could be one of two kinds that I planted this year, neither of which were very prolific compared the the never-ending supply last year. About 2 weeks ago I moved the zucchini, now a little softer and a bit sensitive, to a place...
Backyard Garten: February 2010
http://backyardgarten.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
The seasonal antics of an urban gardener. Friday, February 19, 2010. This is a photo of my Grandma Fern who died in December. I'm pretty sure this was taking in Devlin where my parents live now and near where she loved up until her death. She is 18 in this photo. What a Swedish babe. Thursday, February 11, 2010. Hey there green thumbs! Don't forget to hit this amazing event. Go early! Last year was a mad house but so fun and so many amazing seed peddlers! Saturday, February 6, 2010. Til There Was You.
Backyard Garten: planting a seed
http://backyardgarten.blogspot.com/2011/02/planting-seed.html
The seasonal antics of an urban gardener. Friday, February 4, 2011. There is a brand new food/garden blog in the works and it should be up this spring! I am partnering up with one of my very smart and talented pals to make sure that recipes, book reviews, hilarious how-to videos and subpar photography flow freely! I'm totally excited and ready to have more focus. Who am I kidding! I have not updated this blog since November so any focus is better than my current focus, right? Diego, the pop up shoe shop.

up mama's wall: 2010-06-13
http://upmamaswall.blogspot.com/2010_06_13_archive.html
Notes from a late-onset adulthood. Thursday, June 17, 2010. I'm back (and not in a Shining way). OK, my dahlinks, I know I've been remiss. But, if it's any consolation, I have. Learned an important lesson about blogging: when you blog often you feel OK about writing a few cute lines of dialogue or describing your love affair with your new pink tights. But when you tell all nine of your readers that you will only be blogging once a week. This is actually not my belly. I mean, its not perfect, but it's fin...
