The Dinner Goddess Dishes: February 2011

http://thedinnergoddess.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

The Dinner Goddess Dishes. Monday, February 14, 2011. Let’s talk food.  . Recently my husband and I took a “culinary” trip to Vegas.  . We went there to eat, mainly.   . We were not disappointed.  . The food was phenomenal! We ate so many delicious things.  . We now have some new favorite restaurants and we tried things we had never eaten before.  . Our eating adventure began at Craftsteak owned by Tom Colicchio, where we had the best dining experience ever! Ok, ok.  . Not easily, but we did our best!

Recipe-driven observations from the sublime to the ridiculous. But the first time he really skated – which, during his many protests that he’d already gone and didn’t like it when I was saying that since he hadn’t actually skated yet he had no idea if he liked it or not, I described as gliding on the ice with alternating feet – was on December 30 in the Parc La Fontaine in Montréal. A pretty damn magical place to skate. The BMW of eggnogs. So far, however, that it not the case. Instead, I am the kind...

The Dinner Hour

Writing for the love of food. Slow Cooker Moroccan Chicken. Growing up, my mom used her slow cooker for beans and maybe a stew every now and then. I didn't think much about using one myself and a few over-cooked chickens later, I figured maybe the only thing they were good for was beans. The secret to the slow cooker isn't that it is effortless. You merely put out the effort hours before dinner, so that the reward is truly at mealtime, when you've just got to serve. Slice one medium onion. Cook on low fo...

The Dinner Hour | A Year of Trying to Figure Out What the Heck to Fix After a Long Day

Slow-Cooked Supper: The Comfort Food Edition. Based on the recipe “Creamy Chicken and Mushroom Potpie” in the Feb 2012 Real Simple; I’ll type in their original, with my changes in parentheses and notes. 8 oz cremini mushrooms, stems trimmed and halved if large (I used all the mushrooms delivered to me this week in my produce box , leaving the stems on because they were small and tight and quartering them). 1 medium onion, chopped (we don’t do onions at our house, so I left this out). Salt and black pepper.
