The Dishes Project
Sunday, May 15, 2011. I grew up in the suburbs, and unsurprisingly there was a mall in the neighboring town. I spent the most time at the Rave clothing store and in Waldenbooks. Both of which have long since gone out of business. The place to go for your best 90's style was Contempo Casuals (bought out years later by Wet Seal. And they had a giant screen behind the check-out desk where they played music videos. I do get a special kick out of Teachers. Since it's a list song. Thanks, Stephen Sondheim.

The Dishes Will Wait
The Dishes Will Wait. While I sit down to clear these thoughts from my head. Saturday, March 14, 2015. Excerpts from The Forever Journey, by Diane Lisowski. March is Brain Injury Awareness Month. The Disheveled Catholic Mom | An Incredibly Blessed Life
An Incredibly Blessed Life. The Disheveled Catholic Mom. Discovering the Joy in Parenting. Disheveled comes to mind when I think of parenting. Hence my blog title. It’s not the tidiest gig in the world and it certainly can be humiliating to some extent. There is no paycheck involved and, most of the time, no praise. Parenting can be lonely. Boring. Monotenous. And just plain tiring. Above that I wanted more than anything to prove to everyone I was a good parent. I will admit, I have stretch marks all ove...

The Disheveled Parent | Parenting in the city (and apartment) that never sleeps
Parenting in the city (and apartment) that never sleeps. May 28, 2015. Would you judge me if you knew? Would you judge me if you knew I was the woman thinking ‘. Shut your kid up’. Would you judge me if I told you I used to feel children had no place at restaurants? What would you think if I told you I used to think children who had temper tantrums were the product of overly lax or weak parenting? Would you judge me if I said I used to think only lazy parents let their kids watch television? I was a very...

The Disheveled Theologian – Finding God in the everyday moments of life
Finding God in the everyday moments of life. On a chilly morning early one spring, seconds after I waved good-bye to my husband and kids on their way to work and school, I received a text from my son. Pls get pics of moon! Dad says good camera not phone. Oh, that’s right, I thought, glancing out the window, There’s an eclipse. And a blood moon to boot, whatever that means. Before I had time to remember what, exactly, that did mean, I received another text. And discovered that the door was locked. In the ...
