The Food Geek

What sorts of things can go wrong with toffee making? Will humidity doom a toffee to failure, or could there be something more sinister at work? My Twitter friend Jennifer asks:. Okay, I exaggerate. And toffee, being one of the tastiest of candies, requires a bit more knowledge to ensure it works. I know, I know, I wr...

Every now and then, someone offers to send me something for free. Sometimes I accept; sometimes I do not. Sometimes I review it; sometimes I do not. Sometimes I like it; sometimes I do not. This is one of the cases where I accepted the item and decided to review it. Well, first of all it's small batch. Second, it's aged. Third, it's blended with premium ingredients. Oh, and the peppers were aged as well. The finest peppers. Also, it has a wax seal and a little medal. So that's cool. December 16, 2011.

Olives as Ingredient — The Food Geek

http://www.thefoodgeek.com/blog/olives-as-ingredient.html

So, here are some guidelines:. Only good olives;. Don't overuse kalamata; they are very salty;. It works really well with meat. You can work it into any sort of ground meat preparation such as hamburgers, meatloaf, meatballs, sausage, whatever;. Olives give a huge savory boost. It is loaded with umami;. Pastas work well with olives; Puttanesca and Puttanesca Bianca are the prime examples;. Speaking of, Puttanesca Bianca is amazing. Try that some time;. Written by Brian Geiger. May 15, 2012.

Picky Eater: Vi-Ann Restaurant in winnipeg

http://marinas-bakery.blogspot.com/2009/04/vi-ann-restaurant-in-winnipeg.html

Food for thought in CANADA and Brooklyn. Saturday, April 18, 2009. Vi-Ann Restaurant in winnipeg. This Vietnamese restaurant in Winnipeg is slamming. They make my favorite vegetarian. In the city and an excellent Vegetable chow mein. They add tons of fresh vegetables. And the sauces are great. There is a word of warning however, DO NOT ORDER OUTSIDE OF THE BOX. This is really serious, if you order anything beside the vegetarian. Or the chow mein. I can not guarantee. April 19, 2009 at 7:11:00 AM PDT.

Laquo; We don’t need no stinkin’ PreCalculus. How to write a big fat Calculus book ». Why do we need to learn limits? February 18, 2006. Calculus traditionally begins with a look at limits and continuity. In many courses this is the only time students will see discontinuous functions with removable discontinuities and most won’t see jump discontinuities elsewhere. So why do students have to learn about limits so early? Limits let us know we aren’t in Kansas any more. You certainly need limits if you&#821...

Laquo; How to write a big fat Calculus book. Loss of Continuity ». February 22, 2006. I took Calculus twice. Once while I was in high school and once in college. The first time I learned to do the problems and the second time I had time to find out a bit about what was really going on. I’m sure the seeds are sown early. Some teachers work better with one group or another. X 12 = 30. X 12 = 30. I’m not ...
