The Full Table

Recipes for the Large Family. Thursday, November 29, 2012. My Mama's Cranberry Relish. This year for Thanksgiving I brought the cranberry relish. Usually, this is my mom's usual contribution, but I was glad for the chance to learn this family recipe that has made an annual appearance as long as I've been alive. It a simple twist on traditional cranberry relish. I like the freshness and texture that it brings to the table. It's also a great addition to a leftover turkey sandwich. Prep Time: 10 minutes.

The Full Table: February 2011

Recipes for the Large Family. Wednesday, February 2, 2011. My first choice would be to serve a piece of fruit for desert, but sometimes the fruit just needs a little dressing up. We had a who mess of bananas that we ready go bad, so I turned them into a special treat that made them disappear in no time flat. Cut bananas lengthwise. Insert chocolate chips. Wrap in foil and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. I think next time I'll add a few marshmallows, too. Cinnamon Maple Roasted Bananas:.

Recipes for the Large Family. Friday, January 20, 2012. Somehow dinner doesn't seem complete until there's something sweet on the palate. In the summer, fruit easily fits the bill. After the rich desserts and candies of the holidays, apple crisp with a cup of tea is a healthy and quick solution for the end of a wintertime meal. Prep Time: 5 minutes. Bake Time 20-25 minutes. Cost: Approx. $2.00. 1 can of apple pie filling ($1.87). 2 1/2 cups of oats ($.30). 1/4 cup of brown sugar. Labels: $5.00 or less.

The Full Table: October 2010

http://thefulltableshineagain.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

Recipes for the Large Family. Monday, October 25, 2010. My first attempt at gluten free biscuits was a disaster. They resembled salty, putty colored hockey pucks. Out of desperation for something bread like the kids ate them covered with maple syrup. Take two was much, much better. Prep Time: 10 minutes. Cook Time: 12-15 minutes. Cost: Approx. $2.50. 2 1/2 cups all purpose gluten free baking flour ($1.50). 1 tsp baking soda. 1 tsp baking powder. 1 1/2 tsp xanthan gum. 1 egg and 1 egg yolk. In a large bow...

Shine Again: May 2012

http://monica-shineagain.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html

Thursday, May 10, 2012. It's not about me. Where did this school year go? It's been a busy and full nine months. Two kids in school. Five kids in homeschool. Deadlines. Activities. Games. Projects. Successes. Disappointments. Failures. Frustrations. Firsts. Transparency. Breakthroughs. Laughter. Secrets. Togetherness. Tension. Hugs. Life. I've spent many hours on my knees these past months just begging the Lord for wisdom. Where do we set the boundaries? How can I respond in love, yet with the truth?

Shine Again: April 2012

http://monica-shineagain.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

Tuesday, April 3, 2012. Reflections on 40 Days of Juicing. I exclusively juiced for the first 10 days and drank only water ( and chewed on a lot of ice chips). The next 10 days I added a green smoothie that included at times greek yogurt. I also allowed myself protein in the form of eggs or raw peanut butter each day. The last 20 days I juiced two meals a day and ate raw foods for the last meal. Was this a waste of time? At first, yes. No, in fact I saved money. Do I regret it? Would I do it again? 5) I ...

Shine Again: Little Blessings

http://monica-shineagain.blogspot.com/2013/01/little-blessings.html

Friday, January 11, 2013. January 11, 2013. I'm trying REALLY hard to be disciplined in my spending. In October I put myself on a pretty strict budget for our consumable items. $125 a week for grocery/household purchases. $80 a week for gas for our two vehicles and $20 spending money on whatever (this usually spills over into grocery spending or going out to eat.) When people hear this they usually gasp in disbelief. Is it easy? Not always, but it is possible. Maybe not, but that is 10% of my monthly bud...

Shine Again: Changing Seasons

http://monica-shineagain.blogspot.com/2013/11/changing-seasons.html

Wednesday, November 6, 2013. Life is good. Life is full. Life is ever changing. I think that about sums it up. Having an upperclassman, a first grader and everything in between fills our days with lots of activity and lots of different areas of growth and change. Each day is a gift. I wouldn't change it for the world. Our yearly family picture at the park. Here's some of past pictures- 2006, 2007. Not all of them are posted to the blog, I'll have to dig the and see if I can find more. Hannah, almost 17.

The Rotramels: March 2010

http://rotramels.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

Sunday, March 7, 2010. Jan and Feb. bring birthday fun to our house. Nathan's now five, and had a spaceship cake for his birthday. I can't believe my baby is 5! Becca's birthday party was cancelled twice, because Nathan had a nasty bout with pneumonia. He's ok now, it was a little scary though, we had 2 trips to the hospital. We did have a little castle cake for her birthday, but we're going to have a little party with the neighbor kids hopefully this week. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Friday, August 26, 2011. In our homeschool this week…. We survived the first 2 weeks of school! The hardest part is still anything involving writing. Becca's doing fantastic, though, much better than I expected! We're finishing the Wizard of Oz, and are looking forward to family movie night for their first showing of it! I am inspired by…. Anyone who homeschools more than 2.this is exhausting! My favorite thing this week was…. Things I’m working on…. Keeping the house tidy (not clean, but picked up).
